10 BIG car problems, and really simple solutions

Here are some more solutions to common car problems.

Dead Battery

jump-start

A dead battery can be the most annoying thing that can happen. Most of the modern cars do not start if the battery is dead. The best solution is to jump start the car. For this you will need another car and jumper cables. Open the hood of both the cars and identify the positive terminal, it is bigger than the negative terminal in most batteries and has a red cap.

Use red jumper cable to attach the positive terminals for the batteries. Attach the black cable from the negative terminal of the donor battery and fix the other end on a metal surface of your car. Start the donor car and let it run for minutes. After some time, start your car and it should be charged enough to crank the engine and come to life. Always make sure to attach the positive terminals first and also make sure that the wires from both opposite terminals do not touch each other.

Blown fuse

Modern cars carry a lot of electrical equipment. All of the devices are saved by the fuse that protects these sensitive equipment from voltage surge. A blown fuse may also stop the car from starting. Changing fuse is as easy as replacing a bulb in your home. Locate the fuse box in your car, which is generally located below the dashboard, or on the side of the dashboard, hidden by the door.

The lid of the fuse box has all the information about which fuse goes where in the car. Also, you will see some extra fuses stacked nicely on the side of the fuse box. Check each fuse one by one and then replace the one that is blown the same colour spare fuse. It is a good idea to click a picture of the fuse box before you remove any fuse from it, it helps in case you forget the place of the fuse.

Radiator fail

Smoke

The radiator of a car is one vital organ to make sure that the car is up and running over long distances. The equipment regulates the temperature of the engine and keeps the engine in normal working temperature. If the radiator fails, there is a big chance of engine failure or even fire in the car. Always keep an eye on the engine temperature gauge of your car.

If you notice a sudden increase in temperature, immediately stop the car and call for a towing vehicle. If you are in the middle of nowhere or the towing vehicle is taking years to arrive, there is a simple fix to the radiator problem. Open all the windows of the car and turn the car heater on with fresh air mode. The heater will take the heat from the engine and will throw it inside the cabin. That puts the car in workable condition for few extra kilometres.

Tyre losing pressure quickly

Bald

Sometimes people experience tyres losing pressure way too quickly and there are no punctures in the tyre. This happen when the tyres becomes very old and they develop small perforations. The small perforations release the air pretty quickly and the tyres cannot maintain the pressure for a long period of time. The best solution to this problem is to replace the tyres with new ones. If you are looking for cheaper solution, you can also put tube in the tyres that will help the tyre to retain the pressure for a longer time.

Wet interiors
