The festive season is coming and car manufacturers are lining up a bevy of new launches. Since it is an auspicious time, a lot of new car purchases take place during this period. Here are 20 new cars heading our way in the next 3 months.
Honda Brio facelift
Price: Rs 4.5 lakhs onwards / Expected: September/October
The Brio facelift will be launched by next month. The vehicle has already reached dealerships. The main change is the redesigned front bumper and grill which looks more like the one on the new Amaze.
Also, on the inside, there is a new dashboard that has been taken from the Amaze, and a new instrument cluster as well. Sadly, a rear wiper will most likely not be available even now. The same 1.2 liter petrol engine is expected to continue. It makes 87 Bhp and 109 Nm.
Price: Rs 4.5 lakhs onwards / Expected: November
The Ignis will replace the Ritz when it is launched. It is a crossover courtesy its 180 mm ground clearance and will take on the Mahindra KUV100 here. Powering the Ignis will be a 1.2 liter engine making 83 Bhp and 115 Nm. The 1.3 liter diesel engine is also likely to be offered. A 5 speed manual and an automatic gearbox is expected with the Ignis. It will be the cheapest offering from Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets.
Mahindra E2O 4 door
Price: Rs 6 lakhs onwards / Expected: November/ December
At the launch of the e-Verito this year, Mahindra confirmed that they will launch 2 new electric products this year. One of them is going to be this – the 4 door e2o. As of now, the fully electric vehicle only came in a 2 door configuration. The 4 door version will get a more powerful electric motor. The current E2O gets a an electric motor making 25 Bhp-54 Nm.
Tata Tiago Sport
Price: Rs 6.5 lakhs onwards / Expected: November
The Tiago Sport, as the name suggest is a hot hatch version of the Tiago. It will mostly be powered by the same 1.2 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine and will be assisted by a turbocharger. This will take the output to 118 Bhp as per reports. The Tiago is a fun and youth oriented vehicle. The addition of the Sport will certainly make it more appealing and will also make it the cheapest hot hatchback.
Maruti Baleno RS
Price: Rs 8-9 lakhs onwards / Expected: October
The Baleno RS will be the first hot hatch from the company. It’ll be powered by a 1.0 liter turbocharged 3 cylinder engine making 108 Bhp and 170 Nm. It’ll also get a different body kit and more importantly, rear disc brakes and new alloy wheels. No other changes are expected. With this car, Maruti will take on the Polo GT TSi and the Abarth Punto.
Fiat Avventura Urban Cross
Price: Rs 10 lakhs onwards / Expected: September
The Urban Cross is basically an Avventura that has relocated its hatch mounted spare wheel. The other difference is the fact that it now has a new grill as well. Under the hood, it has the same 1.4 liter unit as on the Abarth Punto but it will make a slightly detuned 137 Bhp and 210 Nm. Also on offer will be the 1.3 liter diesel engine. On the inside, there is a new touch screen system which has been added.
Volkswagen Ameo Diesel
Price: Rs 5.5 lakhs onwards / Expected: October/November
The Ameo was launched a few months back, however it was only launched in a petrol guise due to problems the company is facing with the diesel engine. Soon, the company will launch the diesel variant of the Ameo with the updated 1.5 liter engine. The Ameo will also get the diesel DSG variant which is popular on the Vento and Rapid.
Skoda Rapid facelift
Price: Rs 8 lakhs onwards / Expected: October
The Rapid hasn’t been doing very well. Next month is when we expect the sedan to get a facelift to spur sales. This will include a new bumper, a new grill and a new headlamp cluster which will make it in tune with Skoda’s new design theme. Under the hood, the same 1.6 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine is expected. However, the diesel will get an update and with the help of a new turbocharger could make more power.
Price: Rs 12 lakhs onwards / Expected: October/November
The Hexa is the replacement for the Aria. It is powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine making 154 Bhp and 400 Nm. It’ll come with AWD and will feature driving modes like on the Land Rover. The engine will be mated to either a 6 speed manual or an all new 6 speed automatic gearbox. On the inside the car will get a 5″ touch screen system and a Harman audio unit.
Volkswagen Polo GTi
Price: Rs 20 lakhs onwards / Expected: October
The GTi was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and is a highly anticipated hot hatch. Powering the car is a 1.8 liter TSi engine making 188 Bhp and 250 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7 speed DSG. What is interesting is the fact that the GTi will come in 3 door format.
