Fiat India launched the 2012 version of Punto on January 3rd, 2012. The new Punto gets upgrades like standard audio system across all variants, improved ground clearance, AC and dual tone interiors.
The improved ground clearance will help the Punto to tackle large sized speed bumps without scratching it’s under body. The improved AC system was a much needed upgrade to make the car comfortable in India’s extreme summer temperatures. Dual tone interiors (grey-black) give a refreshing feel to the cabin of the new Punto.
The 2012 Punto is powered by the same engines that powered the previous model which includes a 1.2-litre (1,172 cc) FIRE petrol motor, a 1.4-litre FIRE petrol motor and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel motor. The 1.2-litre petrol engine puts out 67 bhp of power and has ARAI-certified mileage of 15.20 kmpl. The 1.4-litre FIRE petrol engine makes 88.7 bhp of power and has ARAI-certified mileage of 14.03 kmpl while the Punto diesel is powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet motor that makes 75 bhp of power and has ARAI-certified mileage of 19.90 kmpl. The new Punto is priced between Rs. 4.81 lakh and Rs. 6.54 lakh for the petrol variants while the diesel variants range between Rs. 5.48 lakh and Rs. 6.85 lakh.

The base variant of the Punto does not get automatic door locks, front fog lamps, dual tone dashboard or driver seat height-adjust. The following table shows the features offered on the base Punto ‘Active’ variant.

The Dynamic variant gets all the features of the Active variant and also gets automatic door locking, front fog lamps, dual tone dashboard and driver seat height adjust. Even ABS is offered, but only for the diesel version.
