Audi will launch a 5th generation version of the A4 sedan in India next year. For now though, the German luxury car maker has launched a Premium Sport edition of the 4th generation A4 as a ploy to keep buyers interested in the sedan. The A4 Premium Sport Edition sits in between the Premium, and the higher priced Technology editions of the sedan. Priced at 38 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Mumbai, the Premium Sport edition of the A4 sedan arrives with new features in tow.
In terms of cosmetics, a revised front bumper, glossy black finish for the front grille, 17 inch alloy wheels with 20 spokes, blacked out wing mirrors, window sills and door moulding make it to the new edition of the A4 sedan. All black interiors complete the package. The Premium Sport edition of the car is available in red and white paint schemes. The Premium Sport edition is available only with the 2 liter-4 cylinder TDI turbo diesel engine.
This motor makes 174 Bhp of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque. The 2 liter turbo diesel engine is paired to an 8 step CVT automatic transmission that drives the front wheels of the car. The A4 is also sold with other turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines in India. The car is assembled through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route at Audi India’s Aurangabad assembly facility.
The Audi A4 competes with the likes of the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes Benz C-Class luxury sedans. In the next couple of weeks, Mercedes Benz will launch the W205 C-Class luxury sedan. So the latest variant of the Audi A4, of which limited numbers will be made, comes at about the right time to infuse some interest into the car, which happens one of Audi’s all time best sellers globally.
