Snapshot: Honda Cars India has begun advertising the 2014 City sedan on televisions through a brand new TV commercial that focuses on the fuel efficiency that the car has been tuned to deliver.

It is clear that fuel efficiency is what the 2014 Honda City sedan will revolve around. The recently released TV Commercial expresses just that by highlighting the 2014 City Diesel’s 26 Kmpl and City CVT’s 18 Kmpl fuel efficiencies. While not featured in the commercial, the manual gearbox equipped City comes with a 17.8 Kmpl fuel efficiency figure. Notably, all these figures are ARAI certified.

The 2014 Honda City will be available with two engine and three transmission options. The diesel engine, a first for a Honda City anywhere in the world, is the same unit that powers the Amaze compact sedan. Outputting 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm, this all-aluminium turbo diesel engine uses a fixed geometry turbocharger. The diesel engine is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox, whose final ratio is aimed at relaxed highway cruising, thereby maximizing fuel efficiency.

The petrol engine is a 1.5 liter, naturally aspirated i-VTEC unit that outputs 118 Bhp-140 Nm. This engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard and can also be specified with a CVT automatic gearbox with 7 stepped gear ratios. The automatic variant gets paddle shifters as standard. The base model of the petrol engined 2014 City will be the least priced variant of the car.

The 2014 City will be Honda’s first big ticket launch in the coming year. The car’s launch and price announcement will happen on the 7th of January, 2014. With each engine option, the sedan will be available in 5 variants, with all variants getting ABS+EBD and a driver side airbag as standard. Top end variants will get a host of new features.
