Toyota Corolla has been one of India’s favourite D-segment sedan and over the years, the car has been performing constantly well at the hustings. The car has now gotten itself a comprehensive makeover and the same was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The all new 2014 Corolla Altis – the 11th generation model in the Corolla line – will go on sale in the country in May 2014, which is also when the prices of the new car will be announced. Bookings of the car are already open at all Toyota dealerships across the country.
The Corolla Altis in its 11th generation and comes in as a major overhaul when compared with the previous model. The 2014 Altis gets a slew of new features such as an all new grille, LED headlamps , LED Clearance Lamps (four) along with an aggressive styling all around the car. Coming to what is inside the car, you get dual tone interiors, a black instrument panel and plush leather seats on offer as well.
The car comes loaded to the gills with an array of features that include a push start/stop button, smart entry, rain sensor, paddle shift, rear reading lamp and a rear power socket. You also get a 7 inch touch screen audio system with voice command and Bluetooth functionality coupled with USB support. To summarize, the 2014 Corolla Altis is a more loaded car compared with the outgoing model and this is a good thing.
Also, the 2014 Altis has a bigger footprint than its outgoing model as the new model is about 75mm longer in terms of overall length. The car rides on 16 inch alloy wheels that have seen a redesign while safety features such ABS+EBD and twin airbags coe as standard features. Toyota has opted for a full design change for the car, one that aims to be youthful yet classy. We’ll leave you to judge the 2014 Altis’ design.
Under the hood, the car will retain its current 1.8 litre VVT-i motor that is good enough for 138 Bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 173 Nm and the 1.4 litre D-4D turbo diesel motor that offers a maximum power of 87 Bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant will come mated to a 6 speed manual and a CVT-i with 7 speed sequential shiftmatic and Paddle Shift as an option. The diesel variant will get a 6 speed manual gearbox. Expect the 2014 Corolla Altis to be priced in the Rs 13-16 lakh bracket.
