The 2015 Ford Figo compact sedan that will be unveiled in the run up to the Auto Expo will be a concept version. The actual production version of the Figo based compact sedan is likely to be launched in India during 2015. As its name suggests, the compact sedan will share a large amount of parts with its namesake hatchback sibling. The car will replace the Ford Classic sedan that is currently sold here.

The car will be built at Ford India’s new production facility at Sanand. The Sanand factory, situated in India’s western port state of Gujarat will also play host to the 2015 Ford Figo hatchback, a car that was first unveiled late last year at Brazil. While the 2015 Figo hatchback will go into production in Brazil later this year, it won’t be until early next year when Indian car buyers will get to buy this hatchback.

Production of the 2015 Figo hatchback at Sanand is likely to happen first, with the compact sedan following a close second. Both the 2015 Figo hatchback and compact sedans will be aimed at car markets in the emerging world. The 2015 Figo, albeit in higher levels of trim, will be sold in developed markets as the replacement to the Ford Ka. Ford India’s Sanand factory is likely to be a global sourcing hub for the 2015 Figo hatchback.

The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback and compact sedan are likely to share the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel engine and a non-turbo charged version of the 1 liter EcoBoost-3 cylinder motor. A 5 speed manual gearbox will be standard while details of automatic gearboxes are yet to be confirmed. As is the case with previous generation Fiesta twins (Figo and Classic), ABS+EBD and Twin Airbags could make the safety feature list on top-end variants of the 2015 Figo twins.
