Clear spyshots of the upcoming, 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback have appeared onto the interweb. The facelifted Swift is due for a launch in a few days from now and the latest set of spyshots show the hatchback in a setting apt for a TV commercial. The Swift Facelift will get minor cosmetic changes in the form of daytime running LEDs up front and revised alloy wheels at the flanks.
On the inside, features such as start-stop button, keyless entry, one touch up and down function for the driver’s side power window, auto folding wing mirrors, a refreshed infotainment system and reverse parking sensors are said to be the various new additions. Mechanically, the 1.2 liter K-Series petrol engine that outputs 86 Bhp-114 Nm and the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine that makes 74 Bhp-190 Nm will be retained, along with 5 speed manual transmissions.\
A 4 speed automatic gearbox could be a new offering on the petrol powered Swift, similar to what the Dzire gets on its automatic iteration. A souped up, Swift Sport isn’t on the scheme of things for India. Top-end variants of the Swift will continue offering twin airbags and ABS+EBD. The facelifted version of the Swift is likely to see a mild, upward price revision in view of the various feature additions. The automatic version of the Swift, if made available, is likely to be offered in VXi trim.
A sporty hatchback that is loved for its punchy performance, sure footed handling and good fuel efficiency, the Swift is also India’s best selling car in the B+ hatchback segment, with monthly sales averaging a steady 15,000 units. The Swift, in its second generation, was launched in India during 2011. The latest facelift represents a mid career makeover, and the all-new, 3rd generation Swift is due to appear in 2017.
