2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Details Revealed

Land Rover, the Tata Motors owned British SUV marque has just introduced the 2015 editions of its flagship Range Rover and its best-selling product, the Range Rover Sport. Both SUVs have been upgraded in terms of the features on offer and the chassis they sport. They have already gone on sale in their home market, the United Kingdom. Considering the fact that both SUVs are shipped into India via the CBU route, we can safely expect the 2015 editions to be here by the end of this year.

The biggest upgrade for the SUVs comes in the form of an increase in the torque output of the potent 4.4 litre SDV8 diesel engine. The engine now produces a peak torque of 740 Nm between 1,700 – 3,300 RPM instead of the previous unit’s 700 Nm. However the power output remains the same at 334 Bhp. The transmission also gets tweaked a bit. The ZF 8 speed automatic speed transmission now gets a tweaked torque converter with a twin spring damper being incorporated into it for a better drive.

Both luxury SUVs now come with upgraded puddle lamps which project the silhouette of each vehicle on the ground, which is a particularly classy touch. The luxury SUVs come with fixed panoramic sun roofs with power blinds. The Range Rover Sport gets a new colour option, Aruba Silver, along with the options of ordering body/contrast colour door sills and roof paint finishes. The 2015 Range Rover gets two additional colours, Kaikoura Stone and Aruba Silver. 19 inch alloys in Satin Grey Finish have been added as an option for the Range Rover Sport and the regular wheelbase Range Rover, while long wheelbase variants of the luxury SUV get 22 inch wheels.

The SUVs also gets an updated infotainment features – an updated InControl Remote and InControl Apps. Both SUVs also get an Intelligent Cargo Mode that senses when the rear seats are about to touch the front seats upon being folded down. It automatically moves the front seats forwards to improve the luggage capacity and once the rear seats are folded completely flat, the front seats return as close as they can to the initial position. Expect the 2015 Range Rover Sport to be priced at roughly Rs 1.2 crores, and the Range Rover’s pricing to start at about Rs 1.8 crores.
