Informally speaking, both the cars have got everything common except for two things – “car name” and “manufacturer name”. :D You can buy the one where you get better discounts… ! :-)

You can get Michelin XM2 in 185 width (standard width of tyre for alloy wheel version). Bridgestone Turanza is also a good option.

Your car has got 185/65 R14 but you can go for either 175/70 R14 (the one being used in lower variants of the i20) or 175/65 R14 (the one being used in Tata Vista, Ford Figo, Toyota Liva, etc). But the moment you go for higher side walls and lesser width, you basically compromise a bit on the handling front and therefore I would not recommend you…[Read more]

Fuel should be petrol, I have no doubts or second thoughts about it. To suggest a car kindly ask him some basic questions such as budget, body type priority, priority requirements in the car such as space, ride and handling, VFM etc. That should help to narrow down while suggesting as to what would suit his needs as the best car is the one which…[Read more]

For a family vehicle, there is nothing wrong with it. If you expect it to beat the premium hatch backs or (compact) sedans for performance and / or handling, its just not going to happen. I would take the GM Enjoy over it any day though, its cheaper and does the same job just about as good as the Ertiga. If you are not a Maruti loyalist, I highly…[Read more]

Whichever way I look at it, the TJet seems better since it is also spacious enough for five, has a very large boot, should save enough money in the capital cost and recurring insurance costs to take care of the TCO calculation against diesel, GC of 185 mm with a metal engine guard just in case. Now what it offers as extra – Microsoft Blue & Me,…[Read more]

Go for the Linea Tjet with no second thoughts. Duster is a crude truck in comparison.

In terms of handling and performance and driving pleasure (as well as nice features such as Blue&Me), it is the Linea. Buy the Duster only for size and higher GC. Ride quality is equally good for both. The Renault is also having service issues, so its all equally bad.

Import which ever Fiat you like. Fiat helps to get spares of international vehicles but it takes time. I am telling based on the fact that I have heard from reliable sources that the two Bravos Fiat had got in India for testing in 2008 have been sold, since they have decided not to launch the vehicle in India in the near future at least. One of…[Read more]

i think the best way is to keep the Face of the AC vents which are located in the dashboard besides the music system in the middle..so that the rear seat passengers can feel the coolness of the AC

That’s a problem these days with the high temperature. The centre vents as Shenoy says should face straight – and slightly upward so the air reaches the rear passengers. Keep the fan speed high, at 3 or 4. Initially, open the rear windows slightly so that warm air escapes faster, as cool air from the AC reaches the rear. Hot air rises, so opening…[Read more]

SUVs also suffer from turbo lag below a certain RPM. The Safari for instance has turbo lag below 1800 rpm, while the Scorpio mhawk / XUV500 have it below 1500 rpm. Innova has hardly any lag though.

Small Engine / Big Power = Use of turbo + turbo lag. Wherever you are extracting big power out of a s small engine, expect turbo lag.

My car TATA INDIGO XL DICOR brakes works better than MARUTI SWIFT DZIRE & OTHER MARUTI cars at the speed of 100-140 kph but they don't works well at 50-60 kph.

Not sure why you find them that way. Could it be because of lower vacuum being generated at low rpm, and the booster not working as efficiently? Will wait for others to chip in.

Are you sure it is the brakes? My feeling is your Marutis are under-tyred (Dzire comes with puny 165 width tyres on L/v variants) which is what is making your braking experience scary. On the other hand, Indigo Dicor would have wider tyres which makes you feel more secure. Also, Marutis brake progressively while Tatas have grabby brakes.
