well if a car has lot of power say 300bhp@6000rpm, then if you just press the gas pedal and turn the steering and keep it steady the car seems to drift, but it ain’t drifting its the cars engine specs and dynamics that makes it do such thing with ease …. always in front of noops you can become hero with such tactics, but in front of pros, you…[Read more]

under-steer occurs when a car steers less than the amount commanded by the driver….FWD cars generally understeer. while cornering, the front wheels are performing both the action of changing direction & moving the car forward… in short, it deals with sharpness of turns….

Body Roll means, the load transfer of a vehicle towards the outside…[Read more]

Understeer is a phenomenon in which the car at speed does not turn as much or as fast as you want it to and just runs wide. This is a characteristic of front wheel drive layout and can be considered as a built-in safety feature for the masses; it helps novices keep the car pointing straight. When you take turns at speed, you feel all the weight…[Read more]

I was told today by a dealer that the clutch on my Corolla was shot. This, based on the pedal being near the top of its travel when the clutch disengages. I thought this was normal, and have noticed no changes or difficulties while driving. There is no slippage, so I am questioning this diagnosis. Thanks, Mike

I have a Wagon R 2010. I found the car to be stalling in first gear with a/c on. Suspecting the clutch to be a cluprate, I got the same inspected by MASS engineer, However, the workshop guys ruled out any possibility of Clutch plates being damaged. Further, on a highway (Delhi - Gurgaon), the moment car crosses 85 KMPL, it starts shuddering. What could be the possible reasons? Is this a common pro -- more --

Injectors and throttle body need cleaning. As for shuddering, does the engine go kat-kat-Kat or does the vehicle start wobbling?

the first problem could be the speed actuator set to lower rpms …… with ac on the idle rpm level increases, i mean without ac if idle engine rpm rate is say 500 rpm, then with ac it becomes 700 rpm, thus with ac on try not to crawl below the latter rpm to avoid unavoidable stalls …. try this…… for shuddering issue, check your suspension…[Read more]

There should be no reason for the shuddering… I’ve taken the Wagon-R to three digit speeds without any hassles. The shuddering sounds most likely that you have a wheel balancing / alignment issue. Get it checked. As for the stalling, the rpm has been set too low – you’ll need to get that corrected.

No link. FE is affected by how long the compressor runs. Fan is simple battery operated

If AC is on & we kept fan speed very slow…then will it affect on milege ??

Low or high does not matter. Like I said, fan speed has nothing to do with the FE.

No, mileage is affected only by how long you keep the compressor on. Fan speed is purely electric – from the battery, while the AC compressor runs off engine power – and when the compressor is on there is load on the engine, which then consumes more fuel.

Experts, this has again created doubt in mind. A few days back i have asked similar question that does AC cooling (1-4) affected mileage. I know fan speed has no relation with fuel consumption it operate on battery, but if AC is on (i.e AC compressor on) & fan/AC is moving 1-4 modes does operating AC on 1 mode return better mileage than operating…[Read more]

hey @abhijeet, the blower is battery operated, so when you just using blowers and no ac (then no fuel consumption)….. but when you’re using blower cum ac, then at higher blower speeds, more pressure on compressor as more air to cool, so fuel economy decreases, (but remember, here the blower is not consuming fuel, its the more air which is forced…[Read more]

In case the car in parked under the sun, there are various ways to make it cool quicker than just running the AC on full blast. Remember, nobody runs the fan at max unless you have passengers sitting at the back; its just too noisy. Whats mentioned above regarding the pressure on the compressor because of the the fan speed is untrue. Compressor…[Read more]

Third party is a separate, unrelated-to-anyone party(not you, not the car company) who is this able to honestly and objectively assess the situation, the damage and decide on the validity of the case and the compensation. If the engine check light has come on – and you heard this weird noises, you definitely need to get it checked ASAP. The fact that it started and you were able to drive shows that it is still not too expensive a repair. It was most probably a fault with the turbo-intercooler hoses – one of them may have broken. Did you have power loss and black smoke?
