My ZEN 2000 MPFI, model having AC problems, i visited an AC car expert, he said that this ZEN car's AC kit supports R12 gas and will not be that much efficient if done with R134. My question here is: wat is the other way round as R12 is banned, due to CF4

Hi experts!! Good morning. As i am learning driving these days on my alto k10 and i am expecting delivery of ritz in 5 odd days, i want to ask a very basic question to you all. In stop and go traffic what i do is that i bring the car to first gear and keep my foot pressed on break and as traffic moves i apply gas to move a bit, this causes car to jump a bit, and speed up dangerously, and when i tr -- more --

Personally I travel in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis. I use only the clutch for momentum while on a red light my car is in neutral with the hand brake applied. If traffic is moving real slow, I let the vehicle drift in first gear without touching any pedals, but that will need some practice if you are not used to it. Trying to stick to…[Read more]

clutch is basically a switch, which just has on and off position, in clutch nomenclature, fully pressed (dis engaged) or fully depressed (engaged), as its manual transmission you can operate in between too, but that’s folly …. always in bumper to bumper traffic, keep ur cool, … while take off, fully press clutch pedal, shift to 1st, and…[Read more]

Today I will be travelling to Lucknow via Taj expressway so is it wise to get the tyres filled with nitrogen or normal air pressure is fine??????I read many forums where people are saying it's a concrete road so tyres tend to get heated more and to avoid that one should fill nitrogen...

Yes, considering your journey, today is a good day for filling up Nitrogen but trust me, in general it is a sheer waste of money. Tire related accident / breakdown is not just limited to Nitrogen v/s normal air but also depends upon other factors like side walls, tread depth / tire age, sudden puncture due to sharp objects, etc. Although I am from…[Read more]

I’ve not really been much of a “nitrogen” fan as anyway normal air is 78% nitrogen! But in extreme heat (and considering the 44 degree heat we’ve been having in Delhi) nitrogen tends to expand less than normal air and stays cooler – hence pressure would stay stable. If you want, go ahead and fill it. No harm.

Hi, the Yamuna Eway is a 165 kms stretch with a 100kmph limit. If you adhere to the limit, there should really not be a problem. Also note that nitrogen is more of hype than use in our cars and conditions. Drive Safe. Regards.

Nitrogen is of very little benefit in our normal usage conditions. Even if you’re doing a high speed run on the E-way.
I would recommend against going in for a change right before a journey. If you wanted to switch to nitrogen, you ideally should’ve done it a few days before the drive and driven around in town with it. The rule I prefer to follow…[Read more]

In fact, fuel economy stats will be more of less same in both the cars. If it is just between Magna CRDi and VDi then my choice would be the Magna CRDi for sure. However, if you increase the budget then I would consider ZDi over Sportz CRDi – and – Asta CRDi over ZDi. Yes, the Swift is costly and we have witnessed massive price increments in last…[Read more]

Between the Swift VDI and i20 Magna CRDi, I would lean toward the i20 here, because of the extra space you get and a couple of more features. Plus, the 90hp diesel engine and six-speed manual in the i20 make it a much nice car on long trips – out on the highway. It has a downside of more frequent gearshifts needed in the city, because of turbo…[Read more]

Here is my take, skip both and take the Ritz Zdi in that budget. It is more practical, gets space about which one can’t complain, gets ABS and airbags, (Vdi and Magna will miss on airbags which should really not be skipped), gets alloys which both your options don’t have and is a top end variant which will in general have better features than mid…[Read more]

Mahindra Xylo is equally (or perhaps – more) spacious with equally good seating comforts but it’s the Innova, which is the best selling car between 10L and 15L price range for the right reasons – fantastic engine (in fact, in both the cars – if you consider the mHawk) with immense power, superb balance of ride + handling (from MUV standards),…[Read more]

Ride quality and fit and finish, the Innova is much better than the Xylo. In terms of seating space, the Xylo is better. It also has a better engine now with the mHawk engine being used across Xylo variants. Plus, when it comes to value for money the Xylo has an edge – because the Innova is nearly Rs 2 lakh more variant for variant!

Freelander 2 HSE? If you knock off depreciation at 10% per year it should be worth about Rs. 32 lakh or so.

It’s called Honda 3D engine oil, but I don’t think it’s available in the open market yet. The presentation Honda showed us, showed it had better viscosity than a 5W-30 oil.

Recently one of my friend went for a re-paint job @ rear bumper. He did that from Mohan motors workshop, Near Science City, Kolkata. When he received, the bumper was looking all good and he also checked whether any scratches and dents were additionally gifted to him or not by the work shop guys(I told him to do that I learned from my experience). He inspected and it was all good. The next day when -- more --

A repainted surface requires rubbing. It is always rough and becomes smooth after the rubbing is done. Normally, the painters do this on their own; its the final stage of the painting process. Seems it was not done on your friend’s car.

well if he is ready to redo it, use sand paper to smoothen the surface, use waxing machine to wipe it off, smoothen it and then repaint it, … or else try clay bar … you can get this done in body shops, xtra premium outlets, renowned petrol bunks,,, it could cost you around 500/- …

I guess you should just take the car back to the body shop who worked upon it. If they have not done it on their own, they ought to do it for no extra cost. What is mentioned above(sandpaper, clay bar, rubbing compound) is precisely what I am talking about.

You said that only the rear bumper was painted right? One thing that could have happened – depending on where they painted the car, is that overspray from this car or from another car being painted blew in the wind (if it was done in an open area) and settled on the car. I’ve seen this happen a lot at small workshops, where they don’t give a damn…[Read more]

How long are you willing to keep the car under repairs? If a week is acceptable, get this done under warranty by the showroom guys. If you cant spare the car for more than a couple of days, visit an expert denter. Assuming a full fender dent-paint, it will cost around 3k.

well fender damage means bumper damage, as its all plastic or fibre, you would have to replace it …. bumper will cost you around 3k excluding, fog lamps, head lights, or any damage…. opt for insurance, well its a month process, but could save you easily 3 to 4 k … only 30% of fibre cost the insurance company offers i guess… get it…[Read more]

Sorry, I meant insurance. Bumper damage is the catch here, It being a plastic part will cost unless you have a zero depriciation insurance. If you do have it, then it become s no brainer. Give it to the showroom guys and get everything repaired under insurance for no cost.
