Bad idea. This engine was discontinued ages back. Spares will be hard to find. A nine year old car will anyway have maintenance issues. Especially a diesel. Never buy a diesel that is more than 5 years old.

It is a very old diesel (technologically) to begin with. Instead of the base model of the sedan, go for the LS model of the UVA. You will get more features for a wholesome driving experience. And still save money as compared to the base model of the sedan or the i20. In fact, when you are open to spending a lakh extra, go the whole hog and get the LT, complete with the safety kit.
