In the USA, it is said that the best way to keep your car safe is to buy a manual transmission as most people don’t know to drive a manual. But who knew that buying a manual could get you killed just because your car was a manual. Here’s what happened.
What happened exactly?
The incident took place just before midnight. The car driver parked on a street near an apartment complex when two men approached the vehicle to steal it. The carjackers could not figure out how to drive a manual transmission car and got agitated.
In the heat of the moment, the carjackers shot the driver in front of his wife and daughter. The incident took place in Houston, USA and the men were in their late teens or early 20s.
The men who approached the driver already had a gun pointed towards him. After seeing the manual transmission they did not attempt to drive the car. Instead, they shot the driver. The man, Pedro Aguilar, aged 42, died on the spot.
In the USA, manual transmission cars are becoming a rare thing. The suspects were not identified.
What to do in such a situation?
If you are stopped and someone tries to snatch your vehicle, resisting can bring out the worse. As most cars are insured, it’s best to just let the carjacker take the vehicle.
In a recent news, a Ford Endeavour was snatched near the Delhi airport area last week. Few goons came and opened the door of a parked car and threw the driver away. They drove the car away and haven’t been tracked till now.
It is always advised to lock the doors from inside if you are parked at a secluded area. Putting security devices like GPS trackers can also be very helpful in tracking down such vehicles.
