Facelifted & updated cars heading our way soon

In a bid to stay on top of the market, car companies are on their toes to keep their cars fresh and make sure that they don’t lose out to competition. To do so, they need to constantly update their product line up. Here are 10 cars that are going to get an update by the end of this year.

Renault Kwid

What’s new: AMT

The Renault Kwid is in the news currently because it recently got a new 1.0-liter engine. This engine is currently mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. For those who want to give their left foot a rest, Renault will soon be launching an AMT version of the Kwid as well.

The AMT will be mated to the same 1.0-liter engine. It produces 67 Bhp and 91 Nm. This will take the fight directly to the Alto K10 AGS. The Kwid will get a rotary gear knob which will be on the dashboard like shown in the auto expo. Since it misses out on a proper gear lever, it will not have a manual mode like the Alto K10.

Tata Tiago

Tata Tiago

What’s new: AMT

The Tiago has done well for Tata Motors. It currently has a waiting time of more than 3 months as well. The Tiago is really affordable, for what it offers. Tiago’s main rivals, the Celerio and Wagon R both have an option of an automatic gearbox, something the Tiago doesn’t have now. But Tata will soon be launching an AMT version of the Tiago.

The same has already been spied testing  as well. The Tiago AMT is expected on the petrol 1.2-liter engine which produces 84 Bhp and 114 Nm. This will help the Tiago rope in the Celerio customers.

Honda City

What’s new: 6 Speed manual

Honda has already begun testing the all new City which will be launched by the end of 2017. However, till then, they are coming up with a minor update. The City petrol currently comes with only a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. But the BR-V has a 6-speed manual instead.

Since the engine, the 1.5-liter unit producing 119 Bhp and 145 Nm is the same in both the cars, Honda is planning to bring in the 6-speed gearbox to the City. This will help make the city more fuel efficient. At higher cruising speeds, the higher gear will help keep the RPMs down to provide more fuel efficiency. When it is launched, it will be the first petrol sedan in the segment to have a 6-speed gearbox.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

Trailblazer

What’s new: Major facelift

The Trailblazer was launched just last year in India. Globally, the Trailblazer received a facelift earlier this year. Since the Trailblazer is a CBU product, GM India is planning to bring the facelift to the country in the next few months. The vehicle is already undergoing its homologation testing and has been spotted by quite a few people.

The new Trailblazer will look a lot sharper than the outgoing variant. The new design is more like what we see on GM’s global product portfolio. It will continue to get the LED tail lamp cluster as well. It is the inside where the most of the changes have been made. The vehicle will now get a 8″ MyLink infotainment system which has the option of Apple Car play and Android Auto.

Mechanically, the Trailblazer will continue to get the same 2.8 liter Duramax diesel engine making 197 Bhp and 500 Nm. There is only a 6-speed automatic gearbox on offer though and that too in only 4×2 form. There is no 4WD or AWD available.

Skoda Rapid

Rapid

What’s new: Looks

The Skoda Rapid has been around for a while now. The car will soon get a facelift and the new car has been caught testing quite a few times in India. The facelift will not get any significant changes over the current Rapid.

The new Rapid will look sharper and will follow the new family design of Skoda. The car will get redesigned bonnet, new fog lamps, new ORVMs, new alloy wheels and new tail lamp cluster.

The engine options will remain the same. 103 Bhp producing 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol will power the car. It will also feature 5-speed manual transmission and 7-speed DSG gearbox as well.
