Delphi Corporation in India
BY OUR AUTO CORRESPONDENT
February 25, 2006: The Indian
in-car entertainment segment is
hotting up with the arrival of US
auto-component major Delphi
Corporation to India.
A host of new products are to be
distributed in India by Xenos
Technologies Ltd, a leading automotive
accessories distributor, which is
Delphi's sales and service partner, a
report said. Xenos sells vehicle
security systems and automobile
accessories through its network of 900
retailers throughout India, the report
added.
Delphi would make its products
available through retail outlets under
the Delphi-Grunding brand name in 25
Indian cities, and has also brought
X-Line radios in sync with their
launch in Europe. The Delphi Grundig X
250 MP3 is a CD /MP3 player with
AUX-IN interface, allowing easy
connectivity to external audio players
like an iPod(r). The X 330 SD can
control an iPod from the car audio
system, and an SD Card slot provides
the option to listen to more MP3 files
while traveling, added a report.
A look at Delphi’s presence in India
would make it clear that the company
had started operations in India way
back in 2000 and its key customers are
Maruti, Tata Motors, Mahindra and
Mahindra and Toyota.
With the market for in-car
entertainment and safety products in
India steadily rising, players like
Delphi are lining up high end products
in line with consumer demand. Delphi’s
India arrival is seen to be a major
step in the path towards an opening up
of the in car entertainment segment.
