Fiat Avventura’s India launch slated for October 20th

Fiat will launch the Avventura on the 20th of October, 2014. The Avventura is the third car launch from fiat this year, and the crossover styled hatchback is aimed at shoring up the Italian automaker’s volumes in the sub-10 lakh rupee segment. Compact SUVs are big in India and so are compact crossovers. The Avventura is a product designed to take advantage of this growing demand. Based on the Punto EVO B+ segment hatchback, the Avventura comes with butch styling, replete with body cladding, bumper inserts, tail gate mounted spare wheel and roof rails. The car will be launched with petrol and turbo diesel engines.

The 1.4 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 89 Bhp-115 Nm and the 1.3 liter turbo diesel engine that outputs 91 Bhp-209 Nm are the two motors offered on the Avventura. Both engines have been borrowed from the Punto EVO. The front wheel driven, crossover styled hatchback gets five speed manual transmissions on both the petrol and diesel engined variants. The insides of the car gain a compass and inclinometer on the center console, as new features that signify the Avventura’s ability both on and off the road. A high 205 mm ground clearance, 16 inch alloy wheels and stiffer suspension are features that Fiat has engineered into the Avventura, for the car to tackle broken roads.

Monocoque bodied, the Avventura, which is essentially a Punto EVO in new clothes, and is likely to retain the latter’s sure footed handling and sorted out ride quality. The petrol powered Avventura will be sold in Active and Dynamic variants while the diesel powered model will comprise of Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants.  All variants of the Avventura will sit above equivalent variants of the Punto EVO in terms of pricing. ABS+EBD and Twin Airbags will be offered on the top-end variants. All said, the Indian car buyer looking for crossover styled hatchback that does almost everything a crossover does, at a sharp price tag to boot, could find the Avventura a very compelling option indeed.
