The latest crop of discounts come at a time when Fiat has launched the facelifted version of the Linea in India. With these discounts in tow, the Linea Classic 1.4 Petrol (2013) is priced at 5.21 lakh rupees while the 2014 model is priced at 5.31 lakh rupees. The car is powered by a 1.4 liter petrol engine that outputs 89 Bhp-115 Nm and a 5 speed manual gearbox is standard. The Linea Classic in Diesel trim is available with a 1.3 liter Multijet turbo diesel engine in 75 Bhp-190 Nm state of tune. The discounted prices of the car are: Classic Diesel (2013) – 6.21 lakh rupees and  Classic Plus Diesel (2013) – 6.77 lakh rupees. The 2014 versions of the Linea Classic Diesel sell for  6.31 lakh rupees and 6.87 lakh rupees respectively. All prices reflect ex-showroom Bangalore figures. The price drop on the Linea Classic is intended to take the competition to the Ford Classic sedan.

Notably, the Ford Classic is now available for an even lower price tag on the back of the excise duty cuts effected in the recently announced union budget of 2014. The Ford Classic 1.6 Petrol LXi is now available at 4.88 lakh rupees and the 1.4 Diesel LXi is priced at 6.18 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi. Like Fiat, Ford India dealers too are offering discounts of 30,000-40,000 rupees upon the buyer negotiating.

Both the Fiat Linea Classic and the Ford Classic are larger C-Segment cars than compact sedans such as the Maruti Swift Dzire and the Honda Brio Amaze. With the Ford Classic and Fiat Linea Classic now available at compelling price tags, car buyers desirous of larger sedans now have two more value-for-money offerings to pick and choose from.
