Force One 4×4 launch in April; displayed at Auto Expo 2012

Force Motors will launch the 4×4 version of the Force One SUV in April 2012. The 4×4 version will also be equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). The Force One 4×4 may likely be priced around Rs. 12.5 lakh. Force Motors displayed the Force One 4×4 at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.

Looks and comfort

The Force One 4×4 will have a 4×4 badge on the tailgate. Otherwise, visually the rest of the exteriors will be same as the 4×2 version. The 4×4 version can be expected to offer better acceleration and performance than the 4×2 version.

The new variant, just like the other ones, is huge and offers class-leading space. The looks will appeal to those looking for big, muscular SUV feel.

Engine and performance

The Force One 4×4 will be powered by the same by 2.2 litre common rail diesel engine that puts out 139 bhp of power and 321 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI certified mileage for the Force One 4×4 could be 11 kmpl. The mileage will likely be slightly less than the 4×2 version (12 kmpl). The engine—borrowed from the earlier E-class Mercedes Benz—is one big selling point of the car.

Expected features

The Force One 4×4 will have ABS along with other safety features such as remote key entry, driver seatbelt warning, door open warning and display, rear windscreen wiper with washer, front demister, central locking and over speed warning. Expect the Force One 4×4 to come in both six seat and seven seat configurations.

Expected price

The Force One 4×4 will likely be offered at an estimated price of Rs. 12.50 lakh. If priced at Rs. 12.50 lakh, the Force One 4×4 will be Rs. 1.01 lakh more than the Mahindra Scorpio 4×4 priced at Rs. 11.49 lakh but will be in same price range as XUV500.

Conclusion

On paper, the Force One 4×4 has a lot going for it: it looks butch; it has acres of space; is powered by an excellent engine and; is reasonably priced. Only two things can hold it back: build quality and after sales service. If Force Motors can get these right, the Force One 4×4 and its two-wheel drive variant have a good chance in the market.
