Ford teases the 2015 Endeavour SUV ahead of Mid-November Unveil

The Ford Endeavour has been a luxury SUV that has remained pretty much unchanged over the past decade, save for the occasional cosmetic makeovers. The SUV is getting ready for a major overhaul in the form of an all-new generation model. Ford has just teased the front fascia of the 2015 Endeavour, even as the American automaker gears up to unveil the SUV in the middle of November. The teaser image shows the 2015 Endeavour’s headlamp, grille and Ford badge. These features resemble the Everest concept SUV that Ford showcased last year.

The 2015 Endeavour will be an all new SUV in the styling department and will bear no resemblance whatsoever to the outgoing version. It will come with an all-new front with a hexagonal grille and new headlamps. The hood is an all-new unit too. However, the SUV will be underpinned by a rugged ladder frame, continuing the tradition of the outgoing version.  The SUV will make use of the new Ford Ranger platform and will come in a 7-seat guise for the Indian market. However, an entry level 5-seat variant might be launched in certain markets of the world.

The  2015 Endeavour will come with a coil spring rear suspension instead of the leaf sprung rear of the outgoing version. This change will be quite crucial in improving the ride quality of the next generation Endeavour. As far as the engine options are concerned, the SUV is expected to get 2.2 liter-4 cylinder and 3.2 liter-5 cylinder turbo diesel engines. The engines will be mated to 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. While power and torque figures for the new engines aren’t available at the moment, they are expected to be better than those of the outgoing  2.5 liter and 3 liter TDCI units.

The SUV will getting a new terrain sensing four-wheel drive which is similar to the ones found in the Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs. You will also get an all-new dashboard with a SYNC2 infotainment system and voice assist. The Endeavour in its next generation will come to us via the CKD route and will come in 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive variants.  Ford India’s Maramalainagar factory, off Chennai will be playing host to the CKD assembly of the SUV. Expect the 2015 Endeavour’s pricing to begin at a shade under Rs. 20 lakh for the base model, going up to about Rs. 25 lakh for the top end model
