General Motors India launches Chevrolet Beat and Sail U-VA Manchester United Edition cars

General Motors has just launched the Manchester United editions of the Beat and Sail U-VA hatchbacks in India. The special edition models will be available on both petrol and diesel variants of the Beat and Sail U-VA. The kit adds features to the LS variants of both the Beat and the Sail U-VA, and is priced at 69,000 rupees over and above the price of the LS variants of both cars in question.

 

The Manchester United Edition of the Beat and Sail U-VA commemorate the release of the Manchester United football club jersey, with Chevrolet playing the part of the official auto sponsor for the iconic football team. Both cars were first showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. On both cars, the Manchester United Special Edition kit will be available only with the Super Red colour. The Beat comes with a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder petrol engine (80 Bhp-108 Nm) that can also be specified in LPG-Petrol dual fuel guise while the other engine for this hatchback is a 3 cylinder-936 cc turbo diesel (58 Bhp-150 Nm) unit. Both engines get a five speed manual gearbox as standard.

The Sail U-VA shares its petrol engine with the Beat but with additional power and torque (86 Bhp-113 Nm) while the diesel variant gets a larger engine in the form of a 1.3 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged unit that is good for 78 Bhp and 205 Nm. Like the Beat, both petrol and diesel engined variants of the Sail feature 5 speed manual transmissions.

The Chevrolet Beat starts at 3.97 lakh rupees and is aimed at younger car buyers looking for a more youthful car design while the Sail U-VA features more mature looks and more spacious interiors. The Sail U-VA starts at 4.29 lakh rupees and is aimed at older buyers.
