Which has better fuel economy: Linea, Swift, Manza, Verna or Fiesta? ...

    • All diesel versions

    • In real world conditions, I believe it is the Swift Dzire. Claimed mileages might be different, but the new Swift Dzire is even lighter than the old one. The diesel engine of the Dzire is also probably the most reliable and hassle free diesel engine in India. On highway, however, the Verna both 1.4 and 1.6 with its six gears is likely to match or…[Read more]

    • The Swift Dzire, by virtue of being the lightest of them all. However, on the highway, if you exceed speeds of 100kmph on the Dzire, the fuel efficiency drops to second sport behind the Fiesta.

    • its only dzire. I am getting 23 kmpl with AC on. sometime u may get 28 without AC on long highway run. :D

    • Dzire is definitely the most fuel efficient. Fiesta comes in next.

  • Arun Mehta asks…

Do automatic in swift petrol is as efficient as in new ford fiesta automatic ( dual clutch)? ...

    1 week, 1 day ago

    • I think you mean DZire. It gives around 11 kmpl in regular city driving. The Fiesta however, gives around 13. Ford claims it is India’s most fuel efficient automatic and is ARAI certified at 16.97kmpl. It is also a much nicer car to drive. All that tech sure gives results but it is significantly more expensive than the Maruti.

    • The Fiesta automatic is a six-speed dual clutch and is inherently more efficient than the four-speed traditional torque convertor used in the Dzire.

    • Fiesta automatic is in a different league – dual clutch tech makes it very fast to shift. But for its price, the AT of the Dzire is good.

    • The biggest ripoff is that Maruti charges 1.5 lakhs extra for the simple automatic variant they are offering whereas Ford is chargind just a lakh more for a Dual Clutch 6 gear system. It maybe almost 3 lakhs higher than the DZire but if you look at the extra features that it is endowed with including the higher capacity powered engine that gives…[Read more]

    • Niranjan is right – but the final price is too high for someone who is also considering the Dzire AT I guess.

    • Free flow exhaust systems are not necessarily only about sound, they also improve performance. There are companies like Automech in Mumbai that manufacture aftermarket systems. Depending on which city you are in, you can get in touch with a tuner / car modification company and get this fitted. It will cost upward of Rs. 15,000 for a simple…[Read more]

If it is only the sound you are looking for and not performance, then the best thing to do is to alter the existing silencer, remove the silencer and you will find a dome where all the mufflers are present, Cut the dome and you will have to weld a same seize pipe joining both the ends, but ensure the shape of the silencer has to be maintained else…[Read more]

  • Devraj Maulick asks…

With the Renault Duster almost ready for launch and the Ford Ecosport launch delayed to 2013 and Premier Rio launched, so is it worth spending 8 to 9 lakhs on a compact SUV which is a completely new segment in the Indian automobile Industry or rather one should go for conventional sedans like the City, Verna and Fiesta and also can opt for the Manza. Whats the Verdict? ...

    1 week, 3 days ago

    • I believe in India, if an SUV and a sedan (same number of seats) are priced similarly, people would go for the SUV more than the sedan. Mostly because SUVs and their tall stance is more practical on bad roads, and secondly because SUVs may have quite a bit of boot space in the back. And SUV is more macho etc. sedans are considered more classy, so…[Read more]

    • But sir dont you think SUV needs more maintenance as compared to sedans and the cost of the spares and parts of the SUV’s are costlier than the sedans.

      1 week, 3 days ago

    • thats exactly what these companies are trying to improve. by making these compact SUV’s they are just making a sedan more practical by making it taller and better ground clearance. in case of humdrum SUVs the spares/maintenance expense holds true but by making these mini versions simpler and smaller they are keeping all costs low. because they…[Read more]
