    • Maruti Suzuki is known for its low maintenance costs and spare parts costs. besides, it also has wide sales & service networks that offers reliable service. Go for the Swift Ldi

    • Both are good. Figo has pretty low spares cost too. You decide based on which dealership / service center you are closer to, and which will be convenient for you.

  • Swift, Figo or Fabia: Which is best diesel car? What I want Ffom the car is quality and reliability, should last for more than 5 years. ...

    • With regular maintenance, the Swift will easily last for 5 years. The Figo is a good car too, but its power is less than the Swift and also it has ground clearance problem (hitting speed breakers) especially when five people travel in it. The Fabia is a great car and quality is also top notch, but the maintenance costs and spare part costs are…[Read more]

    • the swift is the most tried and tested product in the indian market so that car makes most sense for you but i’l give u an overview of all cars – 1) Figo – Good city drivability, solid build, great handling, great ride comfort and very spacious. slightly underpowered but doesn’t feel it because of lack of turbo-lag. 2) Fabia – good engine, well…[Read more]

    • The only negative thing about the Swift that I have heard is that the braking on the LXI / LDI / VXI / VDI variants is not upto mark. The Fabia’s 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder is good for city driving but on the highway the Swift can leave it behind. The Fabia maybe more expensive to maintain.

    • The Punto for better power, refinement and features. Figo is cheaper if you’re on a tight budget.

    • I’d suggest the Punto as it feels more refined and classy. The Interiors of the Figo feel dull compared to the clean beige of the Punto. It is also more powerful like Roshun pointed out.

I want to buy a Petrol hatchback. My primary needs are listed below: 1) Space 2) Perfomance 3) Fuel efficiency I'm considering the Hyundai i20, Ford figo because comfort and the space they offer, Swift is the best buy, but space is a problem, because I usually travel with family, my monthly usage is about 700-800 k. I will likely to convert my car into CNG because of hike in petrol prices, after CNG how much of the performance is affected>? Some performance is necessary because I wa ...

    • There is one stand-out car which ticks all the boxes you seek. Honda Jazz. You’l get all the space you’l even need. The engine is around 90bhp, making it one of the most powerful hatches in India. It being a Honda, FE, quality, reliability and resale prices are assured. Also, as the engine is based on the City’s unit which is proven to run well on…[Read more]

    • Shreyans, isn’t CNG conversion OK only after the initial warranty on the Jazz is over? I mean isn’t it safer to do then than rightaway? Jazz also has a bit of a waiting period right now. But it is a good car to keep for 7 years. Usually Hondas have no maintenance at all, but do not know about CNG fitted Hondas.

    • My default choice in this situation is the Swift – but it is not big enough according to you, so lets leave it out. i20 should do OK with CNG, and same for Figo or Liva (huge space in the Liva!)

    • @Mathew: There are various conflicting views on installing CNG in a brand new or or after running it in or after the warranty period expires. My take is that the kit can be installed after running-in the car properly, ie, after say 7000km. As far as reliability of a CNG fitted car goes, they run trouble free as long as basic preventive maintenance…[Read more]
