What’s your daily driving distance? The Renault Fluence E4 diesel, is easily better value for money (because it’s slightly cheaper to buy) than the Superb 1.8TSI Ambition. That said, the Superb Ambition is much more powerful at 160 bhp / 250 Nm turbo-petrol with a nice six-speed manual transmission. It has great flexibility of space, and rear-seat…[Read more]
Thank for the Advice Roshun. My driving distance can be gauged from the fact that my Honda City has run 30k Kms over a span of 3 years, which is not much. The Fluence, though belonging to a lower segment, is a car that stands out from the crowd due to its French curvaceous looks. But then The Skoda Superb is a proven car, and is also very…[Read more]
Sarthak, the Fluence I think is one of the classiest looking cars in India. But you wont like its power characteristics, considering that you had a reasonably sporty petrol so far with you. It would pain me, if I were in your position, to let go of the Fluence but I think you may have to do that, as the Superb is what you would feel comfortable with.
Babychen, if I say that majority of times I will be chauffeur-driven, then is the Fluence a good choice? I have somehow fallen in for the French looks of the Fluence.
The Fluence diesel is a very good option for you Sarthak, more so as you like its design and appearance. But the Superb is much more powerful and comfortable. If you are going to be Chauffeur driven then I suggest you opt for the Superb.
Sarthak, I can see how tempted you are by the Fluence. Have you taken a test ride in it and checked out the backseat’s legroom? Really tall people may not like it. That, you have to find out for yourself. If you are in the rear seat most of the time, then the lower power of the Fluence may not matter to you – so don’t let go of it! Superb is…[Read more]
I’ll do the test drive and ride in both the cars first I think. And yes, its the distinctiveness of the Fluence that made me think of it so hard. Will get back here soon after the ride.
What if I take the Laura Diesel into consideration? Fluence or Laura?
The Laura doesn’t have as much rear seat comfort as either the Fluence or the Superb. Between the Laura and Fluence, considering you’re looking at looks and space primarily, the Fluence is better.
Sarthak, you know Laura has been around a while. In terms of uniqueness, it is the opposite of the Fluence. Self drive, I would still stick to Superb but chauffeur – ah, now thats a reason to get a Fluence!!
I heard the Altis is also very good in terms of rear bench comfort.. Its getting too confusing now!!
Sarthak, you are trying to choose between the heart and the head
Altis of course is very comfortable in the back seat. But are you wiling to let go of the unique looks of the Fluence? Actually I think the only way you can decide is by spending some time in the back seat of all 3 cars. Chances are, you will like one of them instinctively. And…[Read more]

@ Prashant Shetty… Have you heard about Toyota Fortuner?

Two petrol SUVs and two V6s (the Skoda is a V6 4X4)! Why am I not surprised? The surprise is the Pajero, but then nobody would buy a Pajero for fuel economy.
