15 October, 2007

Kinetic Flyte, the gearless automatic scooter from Kinetic Motors was launched in New Delhi today. The 125 cc gearless scooter comes for a price of Rs 37,499 (ex-showroom Delhi price). The gearless Flyte has been produced alongwith Taiwan-based Sanyang Motors (SYM). Kinetic Motors has a tieup with SYM to manufacture scooters and scooterettes in India. The Kinetic Flyte is based on SYM's best-selling model XPro which is sold in over 60 countries.

Kinetic Motors, which does not have too many successful two wheelers in the market, hopes to make a partial comeback with Kinetic Flyte. Pitching Kinetic Flyte as the cornerstone of its turnaround, Kinetic Motors MD Sulajja Firodia Motwani said that the company plans to sell about 60,000 units in an year, which will add Rs 200 crore to its revenues.

Said Kinetic Motor company MD Sulajja Firodia Motwani: "Gearless scooter has been the only segment in two- wheeler to post consistent growth over last several months and I am confident that Flyte will be well received."

Kinetic also has plans to launch a slew of scooters and scooterettes this year. Kinetic's bike models from Comet and Aquila have fared rather poorly in the market. The Kinetic Zoom and Nova have been the only decent performers, apart from the rather snazzy motoscooter Blaze.

With the new launches, including the latest Kinetic gearless scooter Flyte, Kinetic hopes to touch the Rs 300-crore turnover mark next fiscal. Kinetic is also targetting annual sales of 1.1 lakh two wheelers.

After Kinetic Blaze, the company is planning to launch the Kinetic Euro in India soon. The Blaze was a 165-cc model. The Kinetic Blaze was launched in a tie-up with Italjet. Kinetic Motors also has plans to build an electric two-wheeler in India.

SYM already has a 11% stake in Kinetic Motors. On the occasion of launching the Kinetic Flyte, the company announced preferential allotment of shares to SYM raise funds for its new scooter development.
