Maruti has launched an AMT equipped version of the DZire. Available only in the top-end ZDi trim, the vehicle comes with AGS badging – ‘Auto Gear Shift’ is Maruti’s nomenclature for AMT.
The vehicle continues with the same, Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine that makes 74 hp and 190 Nm of torque. The company continues claiming the same average fuel economy as that of the manual version: 26.59 kmpl.
The vehicle is priced at Rs 8.39 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. AGS was first introduced on the Celerio, followed by Alto K10 and Wagon R. But it should be kept in mind that this is the only diesel engine vehicle with an AMT in the company’s line-up. The DZire AGS rivals the Tata Zest F-Tronic, which is available in two variants: XMA Diesel priced at Rs 7.33 lakh and XTA Diesel priced at Rs 8.15 lakh.
