Switch off the AC button when the car is cool enough. This applies to cars without climate control. If the car is equipped with automatic climate control, set the car to optimum temperatures to prevent the compressor from running for a long time
Amruth Ganesh LOL Even the ARAI certified mileage is lesser than that
what’s the meaning of carpool?
Akash Shetty go google it
Smartly use the AC means we should avoid keeping AC ON on signals, you can also keep AC power at min here… lower rpm lower AC…at higher rpm it doesn’t matter
thanks DWS for nice tips.
Even Better, Keep the Damn Rickshaws off the road, No congestion, No road rage, No frustrated Drivers, No Bottle necks, even the BEST drivers are very calm and better fuel average, I realised our problem really is Very High percentage of Idiots on the Street, and not an inadequate road infrastructure.
I try to switch off engine when stopping at a light or when not in use for more than 1 min. I try to avoid minimum use of AC. This can also help in saving some amount of fuel.
gud thinking g.
MY CITY GIVES 17-18 AVERAGE….
Bye Bicycle…. good exercise…. no petrol… no toll… no pollution…. no parking charges…

a fuel and money consuming honda is a myth!!! my city needs a servicing after 10000 kms and it cost less than my santro!!! and its a fact!!

My Honda City 2010 is more efficient than my Hyundai I10 (1.2 kappa) 2009…
From i10 i can get max. 17 km/ltr (with WIDER TYRE set)..
Its all depends upon the Engine’s Power to Weight Ratio, Tyres, Gear ratio, Aerodynamics, Suspensions etc. etc.
@Abhi Jeet,@Amruth Ganesh,@Ajay Srinivas Raghavan…
Did YOU ever have a chance to drive HONDA CITY i-vetec (NEW model)??
Dont confuse between Honda CITY and Honda CIVIC…

And for your KIND INFORMATION, i will soon upload the Photo of my HONDA City’s Digital meter showing more…[Read more]
Carpool: if more than one persons daily travelling from same way than instead of using separate vehicle use one

Best useful Tips.
I too get 17.5 kmpl sometimes from my honda city iv tec.
drivin at de speed of 40-50 wil give u gr8 milage…
Alto k10 owners are still, least worried..!!!
Hey… for bike owners… use better engine oils… timely change the oils and use high performance oils… they improve performance and better accelaration…. Maitain an optimum speed always while riding, for eg: for FZ or Fazer, you get 40+ only if u control and ride at speeds of 45 and 50…. 60 and above dips the efficiency….
And better, dont use performance kits and filters… they can drink the petrol sometimes that when you sometimes hit above 90 or above, the efficiency might be way below 20 sometimes…
24.6 kmpl on verna crdi 1.6- highway
29.3 kmpl on highway for my new Dzire VDi & 25.7 kmpl in city driving… following all the tips for fuel efficiency. Never drive above 80kmph.
Could u give me an idea about fuel injector cleaners. How to use them and their price?. Thanks in advance.
I WUD SUGGEST FIAT LINEA BIG N SPACIOUS NICE INTERIOR N EXTERIOR HANDLING IS GUD N MAINTENANCE IS LOW COMPARED TO THE COMFORT THAT U ENJOY….SO LINEA ROCKZZZZZZ ALL THE WAY…GRT CAR N STYLISH TOO….WHAT SAY….ONLY LINEA….
I THINK DZIRE MUST HAVE LOW MAINTENANCE COST.
Its always better to stick for low maintenance cost cars because they wont burn a hole in your pocket, also they are mainly based on the service quality too.
does this mean that when the car reaches 40k km ull hav to pay tht amount for servicing? But who gets it done from the showroom guys? I get my cars dne from the petrol pump costing only 3-5k for my sx4. why is Vento so expensive?
where is the new ford fiesta?
Many thanks for the info.
vw..is bad in maintenance…
I don’t get it at everyservicing this is the cost incurred? for every 40k kilometres.
It means that…By the time car reaches 40000 km which is known as…car’s service holding time limit…cause by the time the car completes 40000 km,people tend to sell it or buy a new one…so the running of the cars declines from daily attire if you are too rich or too poor to drive it…of,course u love your car too much than that’s a different…[Read more]
Innovation is like getting better and better…Thanks DWS AUTO…awesome “maintenance cost index”..it will help lot of people to decide to get Hard on Money or at the Car…

First lets understand this definition of maintenance cost. “Maintenance cost can be defined to include paid service costs for standard requirements such as charges for engine oil, air filter, oil filter, coolant top-ups, brake fluid top-ups. It also includes associated labor charges for these services.”. Now, pls tell me..do the users think this…[Read more]
it is for every 40k kilometers.
Hardly a month has passed since its launch and hence, it is too early to know the service cost of Ford Fiesta
wat abt diesels is the expense higher if higher how higher approx?
How bout a study on diesel sedans as well?
Glad I use a Fiat Linea – TJet thou
Hey DWS don’t you feel that given the GM’s service scheme the Aveo would be the cheapest car to maintain…. Give a thought to it.
Great to see that the Fiesta Classic and all new Verna are par to par and too bad to see the Vento at 90 ps/km with petrol price at 72 rs/lt
Toyota Etios common Problems faced by owner of Toyota Etios model-V.
I would once again like to mention my problems as follows-

When the vehicle ignition is switched “ON†the vehicle shakes heavily and produces noise.

TATA Service sucks ! … Very coslty and they cheating a lot. So, Its obvious Fiat cars’ maintenance should also be expensive as it is done by TATA. my friends’ own Chevy, Suzuki and Hyundai cars … their maintenance were very cheap.
please give maintenance index for diesel cars also hatch back and entry sedans.
