Firstly buying a diesel car would be a very wise choice, if you can spare the money :) If you are choosing between CNG and LPG choose on the basis of pumps. If LPG is readily available in your city then go for LPG otherwise opt for CNG. (CNG is safer :) )If you put CNG in your existing car it will work out to be very economical and with the rising…[Read more]

lpg is liqufied so is under much less pressure than cng which is compressed. anything compressed is under much larger pressure, i.e.heavier n larger tank.

@Carl Mistry..LPG is liquified..true but it seems CNG is lighter than air..and vanishes quickly than LPG. LPG forms lumps in the tank which is very dangerous. 2ndly..there is lot of difference int he average of LPG and CNG. CNG gives better average than LPG.

It is possible to put CNG for Swift…. If you ask if it is worth, I would say, it depends on the availability of CNG in your region and the number of years u r planning to keep the car. For instance, cost of CNG kit comes around Rs. 60,000 and assume u drive your car for 2000 km per month and keeping the average of Swift running in CNG as 13…[Read more]

Thanx Aravind Anbu, but my car is 2006 model and I have hardly driven it for 29000 Kms till now. My running is not that much..but due to my recent bike accident, my family is against me riding a bike, so everything comes down to my car which is petrol version. Looking at the recent cost of petrol in mumbai which is 71.62/-..it really burns a hole…[Read more]

Hemant Sawant, sorry for the late reply. as per your calculations, you save Rs. 47,705 in the first year by running in CNG alone (instead of petrol) and you will recover the cost of fitting the CNG kit (Rs. 60,000 approx) within 1.5 years of installing the CNG kit. Hope, now you can decide… :)

Aravind Anbu, Thanx for the input. Im sure that will help me a lot to decide on it. Another thing, what bout diesel? I asked u bout it, how bout buying a whole new diesel car. Is that worth it? Another thing Aravind..does CNG spoil ur engine? Does running the car on CNG and petrol affect the engine in newayz? Performance wise, mileage, engine condition.

in case you need to buy a diesel car (Dzire diesel) as you mentioned in your previous post, know well that the insurance premium you pay for a sedan is more than the hatchback (Swift) plus mileage will be lowered by atleast 1 km due to the car’s additional boot weight. Ideally, I would suggest you to wait for the 2012 Dzire if you are still…[Read more]

Best sedans for daily commuters in Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh!

When you are faced with bumper-to-bumper city traffic and have to rush between one appointment and another, probably on different ends of town, you will want a car that gives you complete peace of mind.
