If the tyres are brand new, you will get a good price – only about 20% or so you may lose. However, if you get the EcoSport with Goodyear Assurance tyres – keep it, don’t change it. While the MRF’s where a little noisy and skittish on turns at higher speed, Ford says these two tyres were specifically designed for the EcoSport – so really don’t…[Read more]

I’d like to read “specifically designed for the Ecosport” as “the cheapest available for the Ecosport”. MRF ZV2K have been absolutely hopeless whenever I have experienced them in whichever car. Assurance are supposedly acceptable, yes. But how Kevlar is better than steel for tires(as they claim) is beyond me. Amin, it may stop bullets but as per…[Read more]

MRF Zv2K is one of the most prominent tires among the economical line up in today’s market. For cost cutting , many auto manufacturers choose ZV2K as their stock tire for their different cars. I won’t say it a bad tire but rather its VFM & you can expect more than what ever you have paid for it. Zv2K is not a very soft tire, you will experience…[Read more]

First buy the car and try those tires. We know zv2k are bad but the Assurance ones are a wild card. Try them for a week or so, and upgrade if needed. Why jump the gun? The dealer will always promote those tires which give him the fattest margin or which he has excess stock.

I just checked http://www.changemytyre.com. Bridgestone S322 Tube Type Size: P 155/70R 13 75S was priced Rs. 3400 there. It could be a good idea if you managed to get the WA/WB done from them during tire changes with free of cost. The price (3450) looks a bit on higher side.

Thank you for the feedback. Surprised to note that that HSNPs are being enforced in Kol. Are they done at the RTO itself or have they outsourced it and is being carried out at another location ?
Does the NP have a hologram sticker on it ?

HSNP comes up with a kind of rivets. as per my knowledge these kind of NP’s are one time use. if they tried to be removed the rivets breaks & NP goes useless. again it costs more than normal NP. & these kind of plates are made through outsourcing.

@Subhajit Roy : Pucca meaning the real McCoy ! Because there are plenty of fake HSNPs going around especially in Amchi Mumbai – they look the same – large fonts, print styles, the ‘Ind; stamping – but no hologram. But doesn’t seem as though Mumbai/Thane RTOs have implemented the HSNP system.

Yes, you still need to do balancing and rotation, even if you have alloys. The kind of balancing weights used for alloys are different – you usually have stick on weights that go on the inside of the rim. Do balance your tyres every 5000 km or so. Rotation – if you do 4 wheel or 5 wheel (including spare) can be done every 10,000 km.

depends. if the wheels are getting a bit oblong & creating any handling issues. balancing is important to every wheel that create problem. method of adding weight is different to that of pressed steel wheel discs.

I think it is best to choose the top-end variant of any car, as you then get most of the features you need, especially safety features, which are very crucial. As for accessories, there’s not much you would need – seat covers, door sill guard and maybe parking sensors would be a good idea.
