If the tyres are brand new, you will get a good price – only about 20% or so you may lose. However, if you get the EcoSport with Goodyear Assurance tyres – keep it, don’t change it. While the MRF’s where a little noisy and skittish on turns at higher speed, Ford says these two tyres were specifically designed for the EcoSport – so really don’t…[Read more]
I’d like to read “specifically designed for the Ecosport” as “the cheapest available for the Ecosport”. MRF ZV2K have been absolutely hopeless whenever I have experienced them in whichever car. Assurance are supposedly acceptable, yes. But how Kevlar is better than steel for tires(as they claim) is beyond me. Amin, it may stop bullets but as per…[Read more]
MRF Zv2K is one of the most prominent tires among the economical line up in today’s market. For cost cutting , many auto manufacturers choose ZV2K as their stock tire for their different cars. I won’t say it a bad tire but rather its VFM & you can expect more than what ever you have paid for it. Zv2K is not a very soft tire, you will experience…[Read more]
i get all my punctures n all done from a michelin tyre shop dealer and he says d only tyres worth are michelin , yokohama , bridgestone and the mrf !!! i asked him price for all he said michelin for 9k , bridgestone and yokohama for 8k and mrf for 4.5 k !! but he added michelin are soft so he dosent recoomend them as they get puncturefrequently !!…[Read more]
First buy the car and try those tires. We know zv2k are bad but the Assurance ones are a wild card. Try them for a week or so, and upgrade if needed. Why jump the gun? The dealer will always promote those tires which give him the fattest margin or which he has excess stock.
In that segment, the cars to go for are the City AT and the Fiesta AT. Oh yes, the Ecosport AT will soon join that list. Reliable, trouble free vehicles, and the best ATs in that price range
Yes… and regarding servicing – you can get it done anywhere in India.
You can visit your nearest authorized service station whichever is convenient.
Yes.. As Shreyans sir has said that City AT and Fiesta AT will be much more reliable than the Skoda Rapid AT
Why did you buy tube type tires?
i have a santro xing & i ws told that rim would not support a tubeless tyre…i earlier had a tube type tyre
Quite possible. Old and rusted rims are not suitable for tubeless tires. Make sure you get the balancing dine.
I just checked http://www.changemytyre.com. Bridgestone S322 Tube Type Size: P 155/70R 13 75S was priced Rs. 3400 there. It could be a good idea if you managed to get the WA/WB done from them during tire changes with free of cost. The price (3450) looks a bit on higher side.
Hi Subhajit – Were those pins metallic or plastic pins ? If they are metallic then appears it may have been rivetted in – something like what needs to be done for high security number plates. I am not sure whether HSNP system is being followed anywhere – where are you located – city wise ? Normally numbers plates are held up by two bolts and nuts…[Read more]
@Harish Govind Yeah you are right. I just Googled with the term ‘Riveting’ and now I know what was done. Yes you are also right about the fact that the no plate is HSRP. I’m based out of Kolkata.
*Riveted*…
Thank you for the feedback. Surprised to note that that HSNPs are being enforced in Kol. Are they done at the RTO itself or have they outsourced it and is being carried out at another location ?
Does the NP have a hologram sticker on it ?
HSNP comes up with a kind of rivets. as per my knowledge these kind of NP’s are one time use. if they tried to be removed the rivets breaks & NP goes useless. again it costs more than normal NP. & these kind of plates are made through outsourcing.
ya its done in case of HSRP. Here at H.P the same procedure.
Its a rivet kind of thing. Although it was not equipped in my car but rivet gives better protection than screws. If someone tries to remove the number plate it would be challenging for him. The extra two holes are completely OK since most of the cars come with only two holes for number plate mounting. All four holes would keep the number plate…[Read more]
@Harish Govind It was done at the same location where the RTO is and the job is being carried out by a separate vendor. Not only the NP has a hologram sticker on it, another sticker has been pasted on the windscreen as well having the details of the car.
@Subhajit Roy : Thank you. OK so its a ‘pucca’ HSNP. Nice to read that. How much did the NP cost you ?
@Harish Govind Welcome
.. Well officially it cost me 499 INR. +100 INR for a metal plate they fitted beneath the front NP.
By the way, what’s ‘pucca’ ?
@Subhajit Roy : Pucca meaning the real McCoy ! Because there are plenty of fake HSNPs going around especially in Amchi Mumbai – they look the same – large fonts, print styles, the ‘Ind; stamping – but no hologram. But doesn’t seem as though Mumbai/Thane RTOs have implemented the HSNP system.

The push-button ignition is covered under standard electrical warranty. So in case something goes bad, it can be changed. Somehow, personally, I prefer the good-old key-type ignition.
Push button gives a feel of a button of lunching a rocket launcher or aircraft. A kiddish thing.

Yes, you still need to do balancing and rotation, even if you have alloys. The kind of balancing weights used for alloys are different – you usually have stick on weights that go on the inside of the rim. Do balance your tyres every 5000 km or so. Rotation – if you do 4 wheel or 5 wheel (including spare) can be done every 10,000 km.
depends. if the wheels are getting a bit oblong & creating any handling issues. balancing is important to every wheel that create problem. method of adding weight is different to that of pressed steel wheel discs.
yes, it is a good idea irrespective of alloy or steel wheel.

Yes, you have actually made a sensible choice by opting for the safest variant.
I think it is best to choose the top-end variant of any car, as you then get most of the features you need, especially safety features, which are very crucial. As for accessories, there’s not much you would need – seat covers, door sill guard and maybe parking sensors would be a good idea.
Yes, its always good to choose Zxi if your pocket permits. You’ll get maximum from the car as it is Zxi. Congratulations, drive safe, take care of your car & service it time to time.
5W40 cannot be mineral. This engine used 15W40 till about an year ago.
The Ertiga is now on synthetic oil.
5W40 is synthetic oil. You can even use 0W40 which is synthetic too. Castrol Magnatec 10W40 (Check the API rating) could be a VFM oil if you do not want to pay extra premium for synthetic oil keeping in mind about warranty factor. 10W40 oil would be slightly thicker than 5W40 and its cold weather grade is little higher but in normal Indian…[Read more]
There are lot of products available in market. Some car wash shampoo from ABRO, Formula 1 etc claims to remove stains of tar during washing. If you like to do it in a cheaper price, you can buy a silicon polish of waxpol for 80 rupees and apply in those areas. Probable you can use a little amount of carnauba wax after the application of polish to…[Read more]
one point of caution: if you are going to buy Formula 1 shampoo from market make sure you are buying the original. The liquid in the bottle looks greenish yellow for duplicates where as the original one looks pure yellow.
I think best is if you use dedicated remover like “carpro’s Tar X”
