Hi Abhishek, Congrats on your booking. Please do give us some more info on what kind of bad service you got, and which was the Hyundai showroom – this will be useful information for other buyers in Mumbai too. By the way, i20 Sportz doesn’t have much of a waiting period, so you should be getting your car soon right?

We once asked Skoda owners on CarToq what they thought about Skoda service, and 60 % of them were quite happy with it. Also, remember that it is actually a Volkswagen Vento underneath! So quality is expected to be quite good. Skoda parts are a bit expensive I have heard, but also heard that rapid / Vento parts are not going to have any replacement…[Read more]

ty for your fast reply , i just had a talk with a skoda person he says that maintenance is not much because earlier car parts were imported and all that but this skoda rapid has a plant in PUNE itself so maintenance have really come down , and this car is specially launched in india only what do you guys think for it ?

The Rapid is a good bet overall. Service intervals are once in 15,000 km, so don’t worry too much about it. Service costs will be about Rs. 7000 per service.

If you are looking for Petrol then there are other very Good options available my first two picks are 1. Linea T-Jet : Just drive it once and feel the Turbo charged Petrol Motor. 2. Honda City : Always trusted i-Vtec. All the reviews about Vento/Rapid Petrol says that it is sluggish engine. So choice is yours. all the best

Cerna is a car built for driving at slower speeds, it has a relatively plush suspension etc which is very comfortable at lower speeds. But at high speeds, you might feel that the car is a bit unstable. But then this is India where the maximum legal speeds are 100 kmph approx, and a speed of 190 kmph is not really maintenable for more than a few…[Read more]

Babychen is the expert, but I would say that the Verna should be okay for speeds upto 100-120 km/hr on good roads. The most stable cars at high speeds in that price range at are probably the Linea, the Fiesta Classic and the Rapid (I am not sure if there is a Vento available under Rs 8 lakhs).

        Babychen Mathew 1 year ago

The Honda City Corporate edition will also come below Rs 8 lakhs. As Siddhartha says, Linea is a very stable car too. One problem is that verna 1.6 has lots of power to reach a high speed easily compared to others – but it is not designed for very high speeds like 190. On smooth roads, you may not notice any problem however. But if road is not…[Read more]

No Hyundai is stable enough at the speeds you want to do, new Sonata including.Only 2 cars make the cut wrt both power and stability given your price range: Linea Tjet(after the generous discounts) and Rapid TDi(long waiting). Fiesta is just not that powerful, but handles like a dream nonetheless.

But if you really want a car to go bananas in, I say defer your purchase for about 6 months. There have been reports that the Laura is gonna be updated to the new Jetta’s platform with the launch being scheduled for sometime between Diwali and New Year. Which means the discounts on the TSi petrol variants, which are in the tune of 1.4lakhs…[Read more]

Rapid Petrol = Not enough power for the kind of speeds you want to do. It tops out at around 170. Regular sustained exposure to 150+ will lead to engine maintenance(v expensive) sooner rather than later. Among the petrols, your only choices are the Linea Tjet and to a lesser extent, the Honda City. Are you open to having you car modded after…[Read more]

Abhishek the 1.4 Verna makes 105 bhp of power and 135 Nm of torque which is more than adequate for normal city driving. The Verna 1.6 on the other hand makes 121 bhp of power and 155 Nm of torque, however you will be able to utilize the full potential of the engine only on highways. Apart from that if you by the 1.4 VTVT you will lose out on some…[Read more]

Purely a matter of budget, Abhishek. If you can afford the more expensive 1.6, go for it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 1.4, and most people would be happy with it :)

It all comes down to a very simple thing – do you want a car with a boot like the Dzire, or do you want a car like the i20 which has lots of style and features. Dzire is not a feature-rich car, but it has an excellent engine. The i20 has a very good engine too, and lots of features. Pls see if this comparison is useful for you -…[Read more]

There’s a small difference in power specs between Swift and i20. But in normal city conditions, you won’t notice it. It’s only when driven at its extremes that this matters (faster pick up, better handling). Normally, people don’t drive like that – pushing a car to its limits. For normal daily commuting, both are good.

The New Dzire is basically the new Swift with a small boot. However it looks much better than the earlier Dzire and since it is essentially the new Swift it is also great to drive. The New i20 is loaded with features and looks better than the Dzire as far as I am concerned, though looks are subjective. I would suggest you opt for the new i20 :)

No, since you get ABS and a driver’s airbag in the Sportz, it’s got adequate safety features. It also has power fold mirrors, music system with Bluetooth, alloys and rear parking camera and sensors. You’re pretty much loaded enough with features (and it’s already a lot more than what competition offers). Only rear wiper is a feature I would miss…[Read more]
