I renewed my Scorpio’s insurance from policybazar this time over our time trusted agent. Reason? Same as what you are saying. I will suggest Bharti Axa as it has the lowest premium. Do ask them for how many claims in an year is the zero dep facility available before signing the cheque. I hope you have got your no claim bonus. In case you had…[Read more]
That is indeed a cause for concern. The mileage should not drop by so much, and in fact most people report an increase in mileage. Not using the car for 3-4 days is not an issue at all, as long as you use the car for more than 15 km at least when you use it (for the engine to reach optimum running temperature). Have you changed the filling station…[Read more]
Thanks Roshun for help and suggestion .
I didn’t change the fuel station. In fact I am using the same station from the day I bought the car(8 months).
Tyre pressure/oil level and everything I am monitoring regularly.
Hopefully I will visit ASS after trying another fuel station.
One thing I have learnt from experience: Never trust the service center. Take out the engine oil dip stick and feel the oil on its tip by rubbing it between your fingers. If you feel any tiny solid particles in it or if it is dark black and hazy and smells burnt, It means the service station has taken you for a ride. Check the condition of the air…[Read more]
First and foremost check the tyre pressure, it should be 33.
Also check out the air filter, that could be another problem, also try filling fuel at other station and check out.
i20 Asta CRDi is definitely a better car (feature-rich, premium and powerful) than Ritz ZDi. Real-world fuel-economy should be on par with Ritz – somewhere around 13-14 KMPL in city driving and 18-22 KMPL on highway driving – depending upon your driving style and road conditions.
Hi, the i20 is definitely better than the Ritz, its a premium hatch and that shows in the fact that the price difference will be around 1.5L between the two. The FE depends on lots of factors such as traffic, driving habits, payload on the car, tire pressure etc. Dave has given very realistic FE figures for the i20. The gizmos in the i20 sure make…[Read more]
I own i20 Asta(Diesel). Its awesome car.i never got mileage less than 18.34 KMPL, and max is around 21.14 KMPL. It purely depends on your driving style.i drive 60% on highways.
i20 is a premium hatchback with loads of space,,features and style..and its fuel efficient too…its far betteer than the ritz!!! you may expect around 17-22kmpl with i20 diesel depending on your driving conditions!!!
There is a carpet ban of sun films, means no one can legally use a sun film in India.
Simply put, you cannot stick anything on the glass of your car.
No legal sun film anymore. Car manufacturers can put dark glasses with some specified transparency etc but car owners cannot.
if you have a doctor’s permit for skin allergies and/or probability of skin cancer, you can have upto 50% film on the windows of your car. But if found that you are cheating, your licence and the Medical licence of the doctor can be cancelled. Other than that, no film is allowed.
Akash Mehan.. Really that’s some thing neww!
yeah, but you need to be very cautious on that case. if found false, you can land up in more trouble than you could!
For now NO SUN FILMS are legal.only stock company tinted glasses are legal.Regards…
what i personally feel.. We can use 70% Garware or cheaper films and if we get caught then we have to manage, because from last 8 months i am avoiding putting films on my car, but now i m thinking to get it done because driving in sunny day is very hectic in my i20. And many cars on road run with films without any issue.
Atik, We all agree that a carpet ban on Sun films was a harsh decision by the SC, but everything said and done it is now “ILLEGAL”. If we all think in the same way to “MANAGE” then God Bless India. Please be a responsible citizen and help the SC and the Police in performing their duties.
Thanks Himanshu, and i am really sorry for my post.
No Problem @Atik My apologies for flogging you at a public forum.
Pls refer your service manual.
Free service means the service charges are free. They bill if there is any changes in consumables items (e.g. Engine oil). For details, refer to the service manual and take a look at each item in order to know what kind of service they will do for the car.
Abhishek is right. Only consumable items like Mobil, brake fluid, etc. are chargeable in the service bill. Its your 1st service (free) than I think the bill amount should not cross Rs. 4000. Also refer to service manual as suggested by Abhishek.
It will be absolutely free of cost. Its just a basic check-up.
4000/- for first service??? No!
@ kashyap: no its free..
I own i20 Asta CRDi.i did my first service in Sep 2012.The total bill was around 133 INR only. You can report issues if you feel any, like suspension sound, steering issues. They do all basic checkup in first service.Oil change for i20 is scheduled for 2nd free service,so the expected bill amount is very less.
U will recieve a bill of about 500…
You won’t have any labour charges, and being the first service it will basically be nut-bolt tightening and attending to any complaints if you have them, plus a car wash. Agree with Atik & Arun – a max of about Rs. 500 or so if there are somethings to be done – but also beware of the kind of “service add-ons” they will try to sell you at the…[Read more]
Yes, Roshun has pointed right, I am talking of including these things. One of my uncle has got a bill of 3400/- on his 1st service that includes engine coating , dry cleaning, etc.
well i have already dine my undercoating and engine coating from 3M care
Oh, then you will not get high bill amount … just 400-500… Many people used to get these things done on their first service… I thought in that sense…
Carnauba wax is a type of wax (like Speed is a type of high octane petrol) which is sold by different vendors in different names.(like Speed is sold by BP, Xtrapremium by IOCL etc) The one shown in the URL is a carnauba wax branded as Eagle one and yes its a good one. Before buying it online you can check it with your local car decor shops. They…[Read more]
There are many polishes available in market. Silicone polishes are very easy to apply but they may not last long. I use Carnauba wax and it works up to my satisfaction. Its a liquid lotion kind of material. After washing and drying the car, park it under shed and apply the wax all over car body using a soft cloth (metallic parts) and leave it for…[Read more]
Apart from Carnuba, you can also use Meguiar’s products which are available at a few big supermarkets today.
Engine oil level should always be checked when the engine is warm!
you may buy wax and use it once a month or twice. Make sure you get from reputed shops as many fakes are around. service folks will take care of oil levels. as long as you have in appropriate levels do not bother.
Hi Atik, wait for a while till the vehicle has atleast crossed 10K km. Because by then it would have run in properly. Additives can slow the running in process, and are not needed at this stage. There won’t be any major change to performance with additives to the oil. Change the oil as recommended. If you want you can go for an oil change now (5k…[Read more]
Yes, the Shell Helix oil will do just fine for the i20 and it’s good to switch to synthetics. However, first check with the service center if they stock the oil, or two, if you could carry your own oil and change it there – they may or may not agree to this.
If they don’t agree then what else i can do? i guess i need to go ahead with normal mineral oil(Suggested to by them) till the car is in warranty period . Right?
