I am planning to buy a new car for my family of six. Is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga a good choice or should I go for the  Toyota Innova? My budget is Rs. 7 lakh!

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a 3-row, 7-seater utility vehicle with lot of cues borrowed from its Swift family member. Comfortable seats and employment of premium quality material with terrific fit and finish embraces a regal feeling inside the cabin. Boot space is awesome at 135 litres and with last row seats folded, it increases to 735 litres.

The Ertiga is a good car for you if all 6 people will travel together only occasionally on a regular basis it is best suited for 5.

You won’t get a good variant of the Innova in your budget of Rs. 7 lakh. Instead, you could opt for the Ertiga. Only thing is that with all six people on board, you will have limited legroom and luggage room. If this is not an issue (like if you’re going to be using it for city mainly, and if you have children), then the Ertiga is a good choice.…[Read more]

Go for it, yes, Ertiga. Best with 5 person in side and for short journeys 2 at the last would be happy too but putting people in the last row for long distances would be a bit hard. I am afraid you can have a petrol one with this budget. Is that ok with you?

Nikhil if you are talking about the throw you can always get more powerful bulbs with ceramic holders and a relay. You can also consider getting HID’s or powerful halogens. If you do not want to do all this and simply want an easy solution go for something like the Philips extra vision bulbs. These consume the same power so you will not need any…[Read more]

There are some very good quality light bulbs like Osram Nightbreakers (Rs. 1,100 a pair), 55/60W H4 bulbs that are a simple swap with you existing bulbs. They improve visibility quite a bit. If that’s not enough then you’ll need 90/100W halogens with a relay, ceramic bulb holders and wiring. Philips Rally vision / Flosser / Osram all make good…[Read more]

I would say this car is gonna disgrace New Dzire… Compare the prices and the engines… You will find that Ertiga is a better option than the Dzire….. Infact the size of the car amazes you… It looks brilliant… :) :) Hands off to Ertiga….

totally agree with Vivek, futher the New Dzire is further small in boot space. Just awaiting Delivery figures and wait period of Ertiga. Moved from Tata Aria to Xuv to Ertiga – I have come down a ladder ;-)

Saju- Aria is more robust and spacious than Ertiga. The only down fall is the TATA badge where they have failed to prove they can handle such advanced vehicle. The number of break down mentioned online gives a chill to the spine. Spending 16Lac and getting a lemon is all it takes to kick back.

@Dinesh – Not comparing Aria. But due to problems with the car I had to decide some other ppl mover. Dont Like XUV coz of less space and more useless features as for me. Thus Comparing a People Mover to People Mover. If you have any suggestions in price range of 16lac with good space inside and reliable let me know.

Couldn’t understand why the excise duty effect is more on Honda Jazz than Honda City which is costlier. When the Jazz’s prices were hiked in March itself (around 10,000), why then they again hiked more than the excise duty hike ?

Tata Safari Storme launched at Auto Expo 2012!

Tata unveiled the new Safari Storme at the Auto Expo 2012. The Storme is a restyled Safari but while the looks haven’t changed radically, the underpinnings borrowed from Aria are completely different. That should make Storme a better handling and more refined machine.

The front end looks like ritz, front door and A-Pillar like Xylo and the rear C-pillar like Innova.Rear end almost resembles Like the Vitara.Anyway if its priced near Innova, its sales would raise up just because its a Maruti which means better service centers and low maintenance

I’m not sure if it will be able to take on Innova or the Xylo but what I feel is that its the ugliest Maruti Vehicle and selling in great numbers just because of Maruti’s image is not possible in every segment like Kizashi and Grand Vitara.Though still I feel it could sell in respectable numbers like the A-Star..

On straight stretches before a traffic signal, you can make use of rolling momentum, by shifting to neutral and rolling to a stop, as this reduces load on the engine, though it’s not a recommended driving technique as you can lose control of the vehicle. Never do this downhill.
