Waiting period on the XUV500 is now down to only 4 weeks – while in some cases dealers have stocks with them and are able to give delivery within days.

Thanks guys. Thanks Joy, solid information from actual owners is whats really matters. I booked a Fortuner last year , still no delivery after 6 months. If XUV can do the same job for a lot less why not to go for it when it has a lot to offer.

XUV with the steady sales indicates acceptance by the customers. An upgraded version is also likely to be launched in Feb end. With so much going for the XUV, what should the XUV vs Fortuner decision be ?

The Decision depends on personal choice…People who willing to pay more…will Definitely go with Fortuner..for its off -road capabilites…Its Reliability and Power…
And those Who are in a Tight Budget will Go for XUV for Better Features..more than that of Fortuner..and its Style Appeal!!!

Shenoy has put it very well and definitely the higher priced Fortuner is better in terms of off-road capabilities, power and reliability and, also its road pressence. The XUV on the other hand is better in terms of the features it offers for the lower price tag.

The Jan sales of XUV have moved down due to Duster, and in coming few months it maybe affected due to Ecosport too though both cars are less spacious then XUV.

Real world fuel efficiency is too difficult to calculate as it keeps changing depending on driving style, terrain, traffic and quality of fuel. One person’s real world fuel efficiency is not what another would get. We will soon have an average fuel efficiency figure on cartoq.com, based on figures reported by our community… but this will take a…[Read more]

We often mention the real world mileage we get in our road tests. But otherwise, as a general rule of thumb, about 20%-25% less than the claimed figure is what you normally get. With smaller engines, it could be even 30%-35% lower, while with larger engines the deviation is less than that claimed.

Real world FE is probably one of the Important factor we Indians look at while deciding on a vehicle. I have a i10 Sportz and whatever Hyundai may claim but the fact is that in city with AC I get between 11-12 and without AC between13-14 with tank top up method( stopping at autocut.)

I think Fortuner will be a good choice…with good space,,features and overall reliabily..its good for city drives..however it has a little bouncy ride…3rd row seating is not quite good as there is less legroom and legs will be in an upright position..

Rexton’s thrid row is just not usable, not even occasionally. Captiva 2.2 is a bit expensive, see if you can stretch to it. Otherwise, by the law of elimination, you are left with the Fortuner. Do buy the sutomatic though. Its such a boon for city driving.

I’v tried out all 7 seaters in that price range over the past month, Drop the Rexton, simple. No point considering the Endy either, the current model will be replaced soon. Captiva is the best to drive but again, the third row is horrible, with no place for your feet. Fortuner’s third row is pretty acceptable, but it costs a bit over 22L for the…[Read more]

Forget about the problems, it does not make the cut as a 7 setaer. The third row is just too tight(about par with the Captiva). And there is no magic wand that will suddenly ensure that 2013 models will be completely niggle free. Plenty of R&D has been done since the car was launched, and the work still continues. That being said, newer models are…[Read more]

In that case, its OK. With the Captiva, the new 185hp 2.2 engine is available only in AT and costs a cool 27L on road. The old 2.0 150hp model is available in MT and after the stock clearing discount of 2L, costs around 18.5L on road. The new engine will soon be launched with a manual transmission, but will still be priced closer to 25L. If buying…[Read more]

Fortuner is not a most comfortable vehicle. To seat 7 in comfort, the only real option is the Aria. That it is available in 4×4 means it qualifies as an SUV. Plus, its higher variants offer much more features than the Fortuner for a lesser price. Performance is a bit less but still more than adequate; economy is better. Dear Editor, I would agree on most of the points being mentioned here with you.You mention that Duster’s interiors feels plush and premium, in my opinion it dies much before the finishing line. interiors are quite basic and tacky. Feel is very ordinary.

The rear seats of the Duster are quite cramped. Just about as much as a hatchback. Thats not good.

I feel the Fortuner is better, it feels more plush and all passengers get decent comfort. In the Endeavour the middle row passengers aren’t comfy as the floor is high! Especially tall people will sit with their knees too high up, making it very uncomfortable. Fortuner also has nire features!

If you’re looking at city use only and yet want a big/tall SUV – then an automatic is a good choice. The Toyota Fortuner automatic is a better choice here than the Ford Endeavour. What about other choices? There’s the Captiva Automatic, Santa Fe Automatic and Koleos too (although that’s smaller). These handle better than the Fortuner.

Among the two, Toyota. But although both the Fortuner and the Endeavor look the part, they are more like trucks and are not the best vehicles for city use. I’l suggest Santa Fe, although it costs a bit more.

An SUV for the city, so you do not need AWD/4wd or a ladder frame construction which your choice of vehicles currently have. You need a nice big modern vehicle with good visibility and ground clearance. I d suggest you take a look at the Santa Fe and the Renault Koleos for your needs. They should satisfy you.

Between the two choices, Toyota. But in the city, apart from the size, they really do not offer much.
