Ideally stick to the same brand and type for all four wheels. The Xylo came with Bridgestone Dueler AT if I’m not mistaken. MRF Wanderer AT is also good, and slightly cheaper. Not sure of its long-term life though. But Bridgestones are long lasting. Yoko and Michelin are expensive.

As far as I know, ABS works like a micro controller which receives electronic signal from brakes in orders to detect locking condition. Once it detects the locking condition , the ABS system frequently sends signal which simultaneously release and holds the brake calipers many times in some fraction of seconds. The problem should not be related to…[Read more]

This needs to be checked. Get the Brake discs and calipers checked, if its from the front. ABS is usually felt by a pulsating brake pedal (Alarming at the first instance and then you`ll get used to it). Tip: Its better to drive in a way that ABS does not need to be engaged.

At this price range, you don’t have many options – but the existing options are good :) The new alto 800, current alto, zen estilo all will do the job for you. Simple easy to drive cars with minimal maintenance.

Both are good cars. However, if you want absolute peace of mind, Maruti cars get one extra point :) Eon is more modern etc, but modern is not one requirement for you right?

I would suggest Estilo / WagonR. I think the base variants would fit your budget. They are small but roomy inside, easy to ride. Tall boy design of the WagonR will help in viewing the roads easily while driving. Entry and exit out of the car will be easy for middle or old aged people. The top models also offer safety like airbags. Maruti and…[Read more]

Stick with the Maruti family as you’ve had good experience with it. The Wagon R would be a good choice.

Maruti claims in its brochure that it gives 20.77 kmpl per liter of diesel. This shall be under test conditions.

since ertiga has a 90ps power based diesel engine , dont expect mileage in the twenty’s , in city it give around 15-16kmpl and around 19kmpl on highways.

Yes, 20 kmpl is possible on smooth highways with steady speed. Normally 16 will be quite good for a car this size :)

lakiniya, you meant the ertiga, right? 20 kmpl is the claimed mileage by the company. So in city (depending on traffic conditions of course) you can expect around 15 kmpl.

If you want to seat someone about 5feet8 on a 5-6 hour drive then the direct answer is no, especially with similar sized people in the middle row. That would be expecting too much from the car; its barely as long as an SX4 after all. For that, you need the Xylo. Bit smaller people can manage by sliding the middle row into a suitable compromise…[Read more]

Shreyans is right. Think about Ertiga as a car for 5 adults plus 2 kids. You get space in the rear seats only if you move middle seats forward. But thats not comfortable for 7 people on long drives.

Not really, but if you consider the overall packaging of the Ertiga, the maximum amount of space that could have been carved out has been made by Maruti Suzuki. If you have 4-5 members in your family and need the last row of seats only occasionally, then the Ertiga makes a lot of sense.
