Is polo 1.2 Petrol a good buy, if iam looking for a city drive car ? It has premium interiors, and comes loaded with some really good features. My daily drive is 55 KM. Polo Diesel would suit me, but the payback is 3.5- 4 years for the differential of 1.25 Lakhs. And i dont quite like the sound of a diesel engnine and its handling compared with a petrol version.

You are right the payback is long. Do give a close look to Chevy Beat, it is a good car for city commuting and has nice new age interiors. The price is also very competitive. Do calculate.

Buy Figo Diesel in the price range of Polo Petrol and trust me you will be more than happy. Figo is more spacious than Polo, no turbo lag in Figo diesel, good handling and good build quality. I won’t advise Polo since VW’s service cost is on upper end.

Going forward, with fuel prices closing up, the pay back period would be even longer. That said, a diesel car is inherently more fuel efficient than a petrol. I like Ishmeet’s suggestion of a Figo diesel at the price of a Polo petrol.

in diesel you have option of swift, i20, punto, sail, vd90 almost at the same price bracket – best mjd fiat diesel engine is found in most which is better than polo diesel – so take your pick

Is Beat Tcdi still competent enough? By comparing it with FIGO, Beat LT opt @ 7.25 OTR and FIGO Titanium @ 7.48 OTR -Bangalore .... Is the famous GC problem in Figo a deal breaker?

Beat sure is competent enough. There have not been any changes to the GC of the Figo. Its just the same as it always was. So if you live in a place with plenty of large speed breakers, avoid.

The Figo Titanium would be a better value for money deal since the price difference is just Rs 23K. It has far more space for passengers and luggage. The ground clearance issue – was partly because of the rigid rear mudflaps. They have been changed in the new Figo to flexible ones. But the car still sinks low when fully loaded. It’s not a deal…[Read more]

Even i think Ford Figo is much better than Chevy Beat, Yes GC lowers a bit when fully loaded , but again its not a deal breaker!! As Roshun sir said, pros of car far outweigh the cons.

I agree with Roshun sir and Amitosh !! I myself have Figo for last 8 months and GC has never been a issue unless a irregular speedbreaker or too deep pothole come in you way in which every car will sink..Beat nowhere stands in front of Figo.

I had a similar dilemma last year and went for Figo. GC is not a deal breaker. I live in Pune and we have Speed breakers every 2.5 KM. (sometimes even less). The problem happened only once but the issue was with my tire pressure which was @ 15psi when recommended is 30-33.

How is Etios Petrol engine. One of my friend is confused between Etios, Amaze and Dzire. Amaze has very light light doors, thin metal sheet and cost cutting is evident. Dzire is no practical car when you are 6 footer. Now, coming to Etios, we checked the new Etios today and I was quite surprised with the Toyota making new Etios far better than before and it no longer feels like cheap sedan except -- more --

Etios is great car to drive……you will never feel lack of power…you need not need to change lower gear…FE is less, but its fun to drive.

Etios petrol engine is good and unique technology in terms of shifting lesser gears even at lower speed on the other hand maruti dzire are champions in petrol engines (k-series), smooth , refined, powerful, FE and cheap to maintain.

If the Amaze seems light and tinny, the Dzire and the Etios are lighter and tinnier still. The Etios petrol has the best engine in the segment. This 1.5 is decently refined. It revs well and most importantly, pulls like a dream. This is the only engine that can hold a candle to Honda’s 1.2 iVTEC at that price point.

In my opinion, Etios has the poorest quality. Honda has its engine as a saving grace. Maruti for a change has a car with least cost cutting amongst the three. So Dzire feels premium, Honda feels practical and Toyota feels like it needs to be skipped. I would take the Dzire in these three options. If you are open to other options, Sail sedan & Ford…[Read more]

Hi, Figo comes with very soft plastic for bumpers so that small dents which may arise out of bikes, autos or in traffic can be avoided. That said, what you may be referring to as engine frame is probably a part of crumple zones which may be very close to the radiator. Kindly note that this area is supposed to take damage and reduce impact to…[Read more]

If petrol then swift n if diesel then liva..but personally im not fan of etios’s interior or exterior..i find the swift interiors to be more premium n its all in a flow, nothing popping out or going in.

The new Liva Sportivo is nice if you are looking for a car with some performance and space. But if you want just a car to run about the city – not really needing space for five, then the Swift would do.

The Quanto would suit your need for space here, but unfortunately in your budget you only get the base variant. Then, you would be better off looking at the Tata Vista D90 or you could also look at the Chevrolet Sail U-Va diesel LT – if you want space for five and slightly more power. The Sail sedan would go slightly over your budget. The Ford…[Read more]

7L on the road budget, Figo Titanium diesel is a clear winner in my opinion. For other hatchbacks, either they will be over budget in the top trim or they won’t be as good as Figo considering your needs. Mahindra’s Verito is having a launch of its sub 4 meter hatch today, do check out its top trim too. Regards.

Your knees will foul with the Ritz’s dash as well. You should consider cars like the i20 or Vista or Liva or Brio. Sail is another option but you will find its footwell to be quite cramped.

Manoj, Ford Fiesta is the way to go. Verna’s handling is not too great the back tyres have a mind of their own. It is not even stable at 80kmph. Even though the equipment list is exhaustive in Verna I would suggest you to decide against it.

May I also suggest Skoda Rapid to you. It is the best car of the segment as far as diesels are concerned.
