Let me be the first to congratulate you.
Let me be the second ![]()
Congrats and wish you many kms of happy driving! Do keep us posted on your experience with the car.
Congrats Kalpesh Happy Driving.
Congrats on the B-Class. Do let us know how it is faring. You’re probably one of the only owners of a B-class on CarToq.
And i got it repainted in my choice of color!!! LAZULITHBLAU is the color,a metallic blue shining shade by paying a little extra, india’s first repainted mercedes benz b class car!!!!
@babychen mathew drives a Civic automatic every day. I think he clocks just about 10 kmpl. Honda City would give you about 12.5 kmpl in the city.
9-10 kmpl for Civic AT. For a manual in the city, it will be slightly higher, maybe 10-11 kmpl max. On the highway it will be 13-14 kmpl. City can give you 16 kmpl on the highway.
Honda City gives you a mileage of 13 to 14 kmpl on highway which I think is good enough being a sedan car.
I d go with the CR-V for the peace of mind, performance and the ease of ownership that it offers. The B class will lose its value and charm pretty soon with any average buyer.
But waiting period for honda crv is around six months, should one wait that long?
For one, waiting periods that are usually told come down, quite significantly. And yes, if I were to buy a car to keep for, say 6 years, I d not mind waiting for 5-6 months.
Honda themselves are quite intrigued at the sudden demand for the CR-V. They had not expected this kind of demand for the vehicle! It is more than double their projections (a conservative estimate of 50 vehicles a month).
But if one has liking for b class, money to spend ( both crv and b class have around similar price tag) off the shelf availibility, you name it colour availibility, should one go with b class or just stay away from it and look for other options like crv?
It seems like you have been smitten by the b class, and there is no explanation for love.
The CR-V prices begin from 21.12 lac to 23.69lac INR at Bombay. The CR-V is certainly a better vehicle than the Yeti in terms of space, presence, comfort and a lot of other parameters. However, keep in mind that the CR-V is a petrol vehicle and hence running costs will be much higher than the Yeti. Here is the link to our price finder app and the…[Read more]
Of course, the Yeti being a Skoda will cost a lot more to maintain and to service. You really can underestimate the peace of mind that Honda badge brings.
hi, so what would be average maintenance cost of crv? first service costs? time interval etc.
Honda CR–V’s first oil change is at 10K kms/6mnths which comes earlies n it wud cost around Rs.5000 which incl. oil change + oil filter & d second service is at 20K kms/12 months & wud cost around Rs.8500 which incl. oil change+oil filter+air filter+pollen filter…. these two r d free oil change services (free labour cost) undertaken by…[Read more]
I don’t think the cost of a regular paid service will go beyond 7-8k. Maintenance costs will more or less be same as those of the Accord.
The average service cost of the CR-V will be around 5k INR including oil changes.
The Thar is ok as a city vehicle for 2 people or 2 people plus 2 kids. The Suspension is pretty good for a Jeep and can be managed with but the issue is its interior fit and finish.
Not recommended as a city vehicle. Even if you do buy it for city use, you need a hard top to help the AC cool better, and fit and finish is pretty basic. Plus the rear is extremely bouncy.
I remember someone had come to CarToq once, and had talked of how uncomfortable it is as a city vehicle – he discovered it only after buying it. People who are used to Boleros or old Mahindra MM 540s will have no complaint about the Thar in the city. But for anyone used to a car, no. Dust enters the cabin, hard edges everywhere…
Kalpesh, Thar’s metal bumpers double up as Mad Max-style armor protection
in city traffic. With a Thar, taxis and rickshaws will never, ever try to cut you off and you can maneuver the That as easy as any other hatchback. My take will be YES for a Thar especially in city.
Thar is a good city vehicle if you have the I-Want-To-Stand-Out attitude. If you want it for daily commute, its a bit uncomfortable. Your spine will suffer alot, since its seats are also a little hard.
Also as a pure city vehicle, why do you want to carry around the dead-weight of the 4×4 system, which will never be used?
Yes, you must wait for the diesel version. Also, Audi’s A1 is on the way.
A Very Happy New Year to you too. The B-Class is an excellent car and quite rightly tagged as a Sports-Tourer. Given the news going around for major hikes in diesel cars it does make more sense to go for the petrol version.
No, there’s no problem if you keep the wheels turned when you park. In fact, in some countries they mandate keeping the wheel turned toward the kerb when parked so that the car does not accidentally roll into traffic or forward and cause an accident. Straightening the wheels is just good manners, as sometimes your wheels can jut out from the…[Read more]
i droved 800
800 was a great hit that time!
Contessa is still very close to my heart. Also it is only one which can get very nice modification and only one muscle car ever produced in India. After that the Maruti 1000 (later known as Esteem) is the next favorite of mine.
it seems indians were very conscious fm very first about fuel economy!!!

I learnt driving in 800 ..its a very nice and nostalgic car to me !!
I learnt driving on an Omni and Ambassador, but I fondly recollect the classic jeep (3-speed petrol engine one), the Mahindra ‘Jeep’ forward control van, the Matador and the Standard vans (perhaps the noisiest vans around). Of course, one of my friends had a Standard 10 and another had a ‘Badal’ the three wheeled car!
oh,lovely memories,i learnt drive on fiat 1100/103 at the motor training school.i just always wished i had ambassador as my close relative had one.
my inlaws still have maruti 800,which my wife uses,at signal stops people admire the vehicle some even ready to purchase there it self with you name it price tag.

The Cielo came only in 1995 and was discontinued in 2001. Yes, that’s another one for the list for some. And the whole range of Mahindras – Commander, CJ500, MM540. Standard Motors Van, Standard 10, and a few Sipani Dolphins and Montanas and D1s.

Datsun Sunnys, Toyota Cressida and Crown were left out as these were imports. Mahindra Armada – yes, that was the predecessor of the Bolero, launched in 1990 I think, just after the Mahindra Wagonette (MM Commander based hardtop, 5 door).
i had driven Ambassador when i was 15, awesome road balance car with very strong or strongest body……
1st vehicle i drew Mahindra Armada
