1. Primarily what your wife complains as the difference in the cars is because of the turbo lag. The Indica being a petrol definitely will have a much more linear delivery than the diesel Punto. 2. The RD box can help, but marginally and I personally would not recommend it. 3. The Punto has a noticeable difference in the first two gears as the…[Read more]
I agree with Amit on the drivability of a diesel in traffic over a petrol. The way a diesel engine can just crawl without having to press the accelerator, and without stalling makes it quite useful in heavy traffic. I wouldn’t recommend a tuning box to get over the turbo lag. Instead, just adapt your driving style to the diesel, and you should be…[Read more]
Hi Amit, Roshan,
As expected, I got reply from both of you
. Thanks for that. Just 2 weeks back or so, i also realized that mu Punto crawls without pressing accelerator. I was able to take it to 5th gear without accelerator and drive smoothly on mumbai roads. Was little surprised about it and shared same thing with my wife. She used to be hard on accelerator and…[Read more]
If its made to crawl on its own, the fuel efficiency will be nothing to write home about irrespective of which car it is. For the best fuel efficiency, the car has to run around 1500 to 1800 rpm. Also if your usage in primarily in the city meaning that its mostly the first three gears that get used in heavy stop and go traffic, then a fuel…[Read more]
No, don’t worry. Just keep your speed under check. Don’t rev beyond 2500 rpm and enjoy the drive. Take a couple of breaks mid-way after every 2 hours or so. Your car should do just fine. Some of this might help: http://www.cartoq.com/how-to-safely-run-in-your-car/
Amol it is good that you have opted for road side assistance etc. However on such a long trip it would be hard to drive at low speeds and make good time. Since you have to run in your new car before you can drive it at high speeds and also have to get used to the car, you would be better off taking your old car. If you take your new car, leave…[Read more]
The 24×7 road assistance was a good idea but do check till where is this assistance provided, as in is it within the city or outside too. I would be a little apprehensive about taking out a brand new car on a 400Km journey because it is not necessary that nothing will go wrong on a brand new car.I would rather suggest you to drive the car around…[Read more]
Cool… Thanks all. I feel little enlighten now. I am any day soft footer driver, so I think should be able to sail with newbee
Hi, IIRC people in North India have taken their Fiats over longer distances right after delivery since their native places were far from Fiat dealerships. 400kms should not be a worry at all if you have done a thorough PDI. The ECU has a limp home mode in case it detects anything that is serious, it will go to that mode even before you realize the…[Read more]
i think the best petrol sedan is none other than Honda City
I am in total agreement with Shenoy. If its sedan and that too petrol then nothing can beat Honda City in today’s market. Winning JD quality awards for last 10 years in a row. Really… Too bad for competition
Honda City!
Cityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the way
Well City is the best option you can have when it comes to Petrol Sedans. But if you wanna try something more powerful, Slightly better looking and a gem for city conditions, take the Verna! Its super light steering feel and a long list of features have a slight edge over the City!
yes thats true..verna is too good with great features when compared with city!!!
Never ever compare a Korean one with a brilliant jap !
yeah never do that, because its a crime to want a little more power, better looks and a bigger feature list!
*no offence*
No doubt Honda City
What the i20 gets can be had as an aftermarket accessory. @Roshun may be more aware of the prices though it should not be very expensive.
Why are you looking for Hyundai’s reverse parking assist feature? You get the same system (Camera + sensors) with other aftermarket brands as well – such as Xenos, RD, WorldTech etc. It would be much cheaper getting it at an accessories dealer than at Hyundai, where prices are generally about 30% higher than the aftermarket.
Thanks Amit and Roshun. I was thinking about buying i20′s reverse assist, as it would make my Punto special. The one on i20 is customized to fit for it which suggests car’s position as per steering wheel rotation. And since i20 and Punto both share almost same domensions thought it might work well on Punto
But after your suggestion I am looking…[Read more]
It is still very much there, as far as I know. Its very easily seen once you are under the car. It covers the area directly under the engine bay.
Yeah, it still comes with metal sheet guard at the bottom. The suspension setup leads to the increased ground clearance of 2012 Punto.
Undoubtedly it is Swift unless you see trunk as USP; but if so then there is Swift Dzire for you.
definitely Swift is d bst in terms of perfrmnce, better built quality & A.S.S…. consider e-CS if u need an entry level sedan wid more space…
There are two answers of this question.
1. If you are looking for a sporty and feature rich car and better service network then your answer would be Swift.
2. If your sole purpose is to moving from place to place with cargo and passengers and less costly car then go for Indigo eCS. FYI: Both Swift and eCS uses same CRDI (BS 4 variants) engine…[Read more]
The engine in Indigo is not Multijet Fiat engine, Its Tata`s very own noisy Dicor engine. But like abhishek said, its a low cost commuter car.
indigo if u travel much and driver driven. if u drive then swift.
How about Ritz? VW Polo is a good car if you dont care about speed …
Hi Sharath, Ritz the rear is not that impressive. The very reason for polo is the look and the build quality. i20 neverthless the same. Only confused is it should not be a burder after owning either.
If you are concerned about maintenance then my recommendation would be i20 magna. It would cost much lesser than polo.
Vin!! please consider Honda Jazz as well u might be missing a few things if u dont check it out
Prajawal, but jazz is out my budget..seems it goes beyond 5.5lakhs..even i am very much intrested in it..but since it is above my budget dint see that option..
polo is best for you.go for it.
if u want a good car with good features and space..go for i20…and owning an i20 will not be a burden as hyundai has very good after sales service and is far better than that of VW…even the engine is not that refined in VW Polo..and it has a high maintenance…so u should go for i20!!!
On-road prices in Bangalore are nearly 15% higher than Delhi prices, so a Brio top-end too would be nearly Rs. 6.5 lakh! Polo trendline would also be about Rs. 6 lakh, but it doesn’t have any features. Always better to go for a mid-variant or top-end variant among any of these cars, or take the top-end variant of a car a segment lower to get all…[Read more]
Hi, I have a black roof Punto (white car) and the roof job is a vinyl sticker. White alloys look good and I have seen a Punto with them but am unsure about its implication on color warranty . I also have red and black alloys as well as seat covers. The calipers and brake drums are in red. Thats the external changes done on my car, but if you wish…[Read more]
I don’t think you should have any warranty issues with a white sticker pasted over the roof, unless of course, you want to claim warranty for rusting if any under that part (highly unlikely).
Thanks Amit and Roshan ![]()
Smut… Can you please pass on the details from where can I get vinyl sticker done? What is tentative cost?
Its erroneous spell correction on my smart (?)phone. I wanted to say Amit
Check with any local person who does vinyl stickers, its not very hard to find one, even the people who make number plates have it most of the times. The cost depends on the material used and the kind of charges the person levies. A small sticker shop may not charge you for sticking it and you may get a (very basic) vinyl job (for the roof) for…[Read more]
Thanks Amit !!!
there are some models of used civic on olx 2010 model 25000+ km done priced around 7L-8L
you can get very good deals for Honda Civic. So initial price of buying car would be same for both Errltiga VXi and Civic. But if you are concerned about maintenance cost then it would be anytime at least double for Civic. Its a premium sedan and spare cost would be in multiples
