You can negotiate on insurance (sometimes get it at 50% premium or even free), accessories – like mats etc, but you can’t negotiate on the road tax and registration charges – these are fixed. Ex-showroom price can also be negotiated if you’re…[Read more]

They are 3 different types of vehicles, catering to 3 different kinds of buyers – the X1 is a two-wheel drive, crossover, that’s more car like than an actual SUV. The Fortuner is the most competent of the lot – with good off-road credentials and amazing road presence. The XUV500 is much, much cheaper in comparison, but much better value when you…[Read more]

If you do intend to go off-roading then opt for the Fortuner. If you just want an SUV which is reliable and has good road presence then again, opt for the Fortuner. If you want snob value and a car like mini-SUV then the X1 fits your bill.

If you love driving and don’t see too many bad roads, go for the X1. The X1 is not suited for bad roads, not just because of its dynamics but because of the run-flat tyres! If you want a go anywhere vehicle but can live with worse dynamics and braking and acceleration, go for the Fortuner. Another thing, expect huge service and parts bills on the…[Read more]
