It is raining in Chennai Cats and Dogs. And I am more or less driving my Ertiga in the rains. The Wiper makes noise when wiping. I mean the rubber touching the glass noise every time it wipes. Shouldn't it be a silent wiping? How to make it silent? I think there is friction between the glass and the wiper.

sabha do you use a glass cleaner, if yes mention it as some detergents effect glass and removes smoothness , secondly if not than closely inspect wiper blades and look for any un evenness of the rubbers if even it is good than visit service center and complain and see what they have to say on replacing wiper blades .

Ah, that’s a probable cause for the noise. Shampoo the windscreen only nicely (or use Colin on the glass only) and also with a wet cloth and soap solution, clean the wiper blades, the noise will go away. Nothing to be worried about :-)

It is quite funny to see manufacturers offering only one reverse light on cars. But yes, it is a cost saving and usually, the reverse light slot on the other side lamp is reserved for a rear fog light – hence the provision of only one reverse lamp. If you look at the sx4 for example, it has a reverse lamp on one light cluster and a rear fog lamp…[Read more]

I find it extremely stupid. It completely spoils the whole symmetry of the car. Car manufacturers who go to great lengths to ensure the car is esthetically perfect then go on and implement such a ridiculous cost-cutting measure. I don’t think that adding a second light would be that successful, because the counterpart on the other side is a red…[Read more]

In my opinion, its due to European lighting regulations that the design is so and the manufacturers do not bother to make India specific changes. Stretch little more and u can get 85PS Renault Duster also..an SUV. else i20 is good car. but maintenance cost is on higher side.. So swift better.. But true VFM in this segment is Ford Figo.

Go with Dzire, as it is your first car, wont face any problem in ownership and resale value is great too. Mileage would be better in Dzire and it will be more fun to drive.

ford goes high on the servicing cost slightly more.but ford figo is a really hard competitor to swift in terms of drive.its driving pleasure is really good..so if you donot wish to wait for 4 months or more for swift then instead of i20 i suggest ford figo

Which city do you belong to? Although with 61k on the run anything around 3lakhs should be enough for a 6 year old Fiesta. Still have a check at olx.in or carwale.com for current pricing slabs in your city.

Unfortunately resale value on petrol cars has fallen now. 61,000 km in 6 years is fairly moderate usage (less than 900 km a month). If your car is in good condition, you should fetch Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 3.25 lakh.

Actually the extent of the swing in favor of diesel cars seems ridiculous to me. While petrol cars are available with discounts of 30k on an average, the diesel models are costlier by a good 1.5L in the least on most cars. So the actual difference is more in tune of 1.8L. On top of which many pay premium for speedy delivery. Think about it, just…[Read more]

Car makes have been cashing in on this collective mental dysfunctional syndrome of ours for many years now. The Government is rather late to jump onto the bandwagon. In 2008 the cost difference between petrol and diesel hatchbacks was around 50,000/-. Today it is nearly 1,50,000/- to 1,75,000/-. Add discounts you get 2 lakhs, so one has to do the maths much more carefully, also considering the approximately 30% extra for maintenance in a diesel. The only good thing is the redeeming factor for resale. In fact,…[Read more]

Well, in my first comment, the idea was that not many actually keep the car long enough to recover the extra premium of buying a diesel car, leave alone cashing in on the lower running costs after that. As for the second point, the actual cost differential in the making of equivalent petrol and diesel engines is not at all much. Its more in tune…[Read more]

Tata may reposition Safari to dust out Duster

As the excitement builds up toward the launch of the Renault Duster in the next couple of weeks, an old veteran may be planning a sneak attack on the Duster. Tata may cut prices on the Safari, directly targeting the entry-level Renault Duster. The good old Tata Safari will also get some model rationalization to make space for its younger, but more expensive sibling, the Tata Safari Storme.
