GM says ” no other color available if you want delivery in october” for any other color u will have to wait till december” i could not even see any other color in flesh, thats why i said, they are acting pricey, and I do not even know why, just if i had another liking, i would have kicked GM.

Dear Experts, I am confused b/w Duster 85 PS RxE and RxL varinats. The difference is about 1.2 lakhs. Even in RxL variant i'm not getting Airbags, ABS-EBD, Reverse parking sensors, even alloys or even height adjust. For 1.2 lacs extra, I get 1) Beige interiors 2)Music system with bluetooth, 3) Rear wiper and washer 4) Rear head rests and armrests 5) Fog lamps 6) E-ORVMs 7) Rear 12 volts socket 8) R -- more --

Interesting choice there. Since your budget can’t extend beyond the RxL to the RxL option pack (which will give you safety features – for a further Rs. 1 lakh), I suggest picking up the base RxE and customizing it to your taste for under Rs. 60,000 or so (alloys + aftermarket music system with Bluetooth, speakers and amp + fog lamps + seat covers…[Read more]

For option pack i’ll have to shell out additional 1.4 lakhs. Thats 2.6 lakhs more than what base variant costs (9.4 lacs in hyderabad)….anyways, i actually booked RXL option pack during pre launch booking, will have to talk to my dealer about the change. I hope they wouldn’t delay too much.

Except for safety features, it doesn’t make any sense to buy the higher variants. The only worthwhile thing in the RxL is the rear washer / wiper which is VERY difficult to fit after-market. For almost everything else, you can buy better quality stuff after-market.

Opt for the lower model. Renault is asking too much money for the kit it is providing. You can get almost everything fitted aftermarket(except the rear wash/wipe) for haft the price difference.

The Duster makes sense price-wise lower down the order. As you go to the higher variants, it seems overpriced…. AND… some features that you’d take for granted in top end models, seem missing.

Nice Roshun, I did spiti too last year, Went up to Batal through Narkanda, rampur , nako, kaza and trekked to the “chandratal” and came back through Gramphu, manali . That seemed much tougher than this trip, the roads were worse there

Agree on the road conditions in Lahaul-Spiti! Batal – Gramphoo – Koksar stretch was non existent! And even some stretches near Maling Nalah (Nako). Chandratal road had a landslide, so we had to skip it as we were short of time too. Manali-Leh seem so much easier in comparison.

Yes, from what I have been reading the main Manali-Leh-Srinagar route has become quite civilized nowdays. The roads are good for most part. The the interior ares still retain the wild charm. This is gonna be our first trip to Ladakh. We are planning to do Nubra Valley and try our luck with Chushul. Trying out jugaads to arrange permits for that place.

I would go for fabia, polo is fitted with a cheap quality ABS and brakes. Also, polo’s steering is way to light. But it all depends on the exact model of the car you’re going to buy. Also, polo is highly customisable as far as aftermarket mods are concerned. Which is good.

      • Profile picture of %s

Roshun Povaiah 10 months, 2 weeks ago

The Fabia has better seating comfort than the Polo. Both share the same engine, but the Fabia feels roomier. Polo looks better, better finish, better handling and drivability. But the differences are minor. As a practical choice, I would say Fabia TDI Elegance compared to Polo Highline.

Fabia has been around for longer than Polo so it is considered a bit of an old car though. Resale value is higher for the Polo. Though the practical choice would be Fabia.

Polo. VWs are built rock solid. The Polo is a very nice car to drive and it looks much better. Residual value is better. the Skoda is marginally better as far as features are concerned. Service wise also VW has the edge.

Though it is technically possible to get the autoclutch modification done, I would strongly recommend you against it. Remember that the Safari is one big engined and consequently big clutched vehicle and trying to modify it to this extent would be a high risk. You might end up with an unreliable jerky car.
