I want to buy a petrol hatchback but I'm confused between the Swift, Punto, Polo and the New i20. Also I want to convert it into CNG in the future, so please suggest which would be a better choice.

If you want to convert your car into CNG then its best to rule our the Punto and the Polo. Both The i20 and Swift are good options for you. The Swift will be sportier to drive and handles like a dream. the i20 on the other hand has more space and features.

You can convert any of them to CNG if needed.. but I dont think the companies offer CNG kids, so it will be an aftermarket fitment. What are the most important factors for you (apart from mileage, as CNG will take care of that)

The moment anyone says cheaper maintenance, I suggest Swift :) It is one of the best cars when it comes to maintenance for sure. It is also very good in handling, probably the best.

Your best bet would be the Polo 1.6. Or Fabia 1.6 if space is important. These bigger engined cars will serve you better on CNG. Expect them on gas to outperform any of the 1.2s on petrol. Also, more the horsepower under you right foot, lesser will you have to work the engine. Which means higher reliability and economy. Among the 1.2s, I’d say…[Read more]

Also the Jazz won’t lose too much boot space with a CNG cylinder – you can still keep a couple of small bags in the boot. Swift won’t have any place left with a regular CNG cylinder.

You cant fit the large 80liter CNG tank in the new Swift’s boot like you can in a WagonR or Jazz or i20 or any sedan. Most People fit Alto spec 60liter tanks in Swifts which take upto just 8 kg of gas. A 70liter tank may make removing the spare wheel tricky so you need to check that out with your CNGwaala.
