I just hope they can come up with a system that actually works and is not a farce like the PUCC.

They are after us only who owns a car, what about the Trucks who pollute so much and also they don’t have any lights working at the back. Also haven’t seen a single Bus or Truck driver wearing any seat belt. Rules should be made for everyone and also they can reduce the fitness check for exp. “A Car which is 5 yrs. old should be valid for fitness…[Read more]

Hey need help, actually I'm an MBA student from Delhi living in Mayur Vihar and my college is in Knowledge Park Greater Noida. My father owns a petrol Swift and a Scorpio. For my daily commutes I use the swift but its burning a hole in my pocket. Should I switch to a second hand diesel car or should I carry on with my Swift? I mean what would be cheaper? Please help!

How many kilometers do you drive in a day with the Swift? And if you wanted a second-hand car, how much would you be willing to spend?

Hi Shashank, Please mention how much you drive daily? And what your budget is for a used diesel car, then it’ll be easier to help you narrow it down.

Mayur Vihar to G Noida in a petrol swift!!! Gosh. You remind me of the days when I used to do my Faridabad to Amity commute on petrol. Your best bet will be to get your Swift converted to CNG. Lowest investment, max return. A sequential type kit from a reputed make like Tommetso or Landi Renzo will cost aroung 35-40k incldng registration. You can…[Read more]

dear shashank, listen what shreyas said, convert to CNG! You will never enjoy driving a diesel car, esp a second hand one! Be a defensive driver! Good luck!

Guys, heard you people talking about all the positives sides of CNG, I have been traveling by a CNG car till the distance was short, but when my office shifted to Gurgoan, so I had to travel for 80Kms up down, & than I was like I cannot stand every alternate day for getting CNG filled in my car. So I went to True Value & First choice & bought a…[Read more]

Rahul has a point. If you have the time to wait in queues at the CNG filling station, then it’s worth converting to CNG (and saving quite a bit in the process). But if you think a diesel car will solve both issues – as in give you enough range to cover 1 week without refilling, then look for a second hand diesel. But the huge difference in cost…[Read more]

If you are buying a new diesel then it is perfectly fine. It is the idea of a second hand diesel that I am wary of. Btw, the availability of gas across India is best in NCR. If it cant be done here, it cant be done anywhere else. Gas in Faridabad is Rs32/kg and a full tank(Rs300 approx) lasts around 200-220km. Yes the queues can sometimes be a…[Read more]

Ideally, I’d suggest converting your Swift to CNG and spending some of the cash you’ll save on doing it up to your liking (give it a makeover). But if you want to splurge on a new car, then look at the Beat diesel (it gives great fuel economy), but you may not like driving it after driving a Swift.
