In my books its the entire package that matter, basically the product to product comparison. If the budget is 8L for a petrol vehicle, it would be the Punto 1.4 Emotion in the hatch backs and the Fiesta Classic 1.6 Titanium in the sedans that I would buy. Both vehicles are clearly better on an overall product to product comparison with competitive…[Read more]
If my budget was 8L i would never buy a petrol car on the first place. But in you case go for toyota etios petrol if you want lots of space and a long term reliable car plus the etios petrol is also fun to drive or the honda amaze is also a good choice it surely doesnt offer as much space as the etios but when compared the amaze body size(it is…[Read more]
Hatchback? Brio AT. Best small car and the best AT in the price range. Perfect city car. Will have it converted to CNG and drive 100km every day. As for sedan, well, if I can find a remaining Linea Tjet at any dealership, nothing like it. Else, the Honda City or the Tata Manza diesel(depending on my requirement).
i will search for linea tjet at showrooms and for 2 nd too..
Petrol Sedan at 8 lakhs? Fiesta 1.6 petrol (Linea T-jet+ is above that budget). But that’s because I value driving pleasure above everything else. Petrol Hatchback at 8 lakhs: probably the Skoda Fabia 1.6 petrol or Polo 1.6 petrol. Reason: same as above. In real life, though, I drive 2,000 km a month, so I cannot drive a petrol vehicle.…[Read more]
There are no more TJets which can be had. The Polo 1.6 is already replaced by the GT Tsi. The Fabia 1.6 can be a great option with premium interiors, very crisp handling, a very good chance for discounts since its been rumored that Skoda may discontinue the Fabia. Note that the springs may feel a bit too stiff and transfer unexpected undulations…[Read more]
in my opinion in lakhs u could have Amaze Diesel VX, Ford Classic & Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna. on the top of it Fiat Linea. In Premium Hatches Punto 90 HP, Polo GT, Hyundai I20, Brio AT V & Brio V variant. if jazz could be available than it would be Jazz V for sure
u could also choose for I20 100HP AT sportz
I would take the Yeti any given day. The Ertiga is a stretched Swift platform while the Duster is on the Logan, XUV is Mahinda’s first monocoque while the Xylo is a body roll champion in this list.
Yeti. Heads, shoulders, backs, legs and feet above the rest.
yeti will win a day on rest of the players.
of course Yeti but one thing will bite being an SUV its FWD drive
yeti
Skip the Vento, it has no safety features. The City has dual airbags and ABS while the other two miss out on the passenger airbag. The Fiesta is definitely the drivers car with a wide margin above the others. Ford offer better tires, better warranty and it will be easier to get a better discount on a Fiesta which already is cheaper than the City…[Read more]
Which will be cheaper to maintain City / fiesta? keeping in mind long term perspective of new fiesta. I heard ford is planning to discontinue the fiesta and bringing fiesta – hatch.
That should really not be a bother since the upcoming Eco Sport is based on the platform of the new Fiesta. Even if the car is discontinued, spares should not become a problem for years to come. Since resale is highly dynamic, a simple example would be a petrol Swift which is 5 years old that now hardly gets a price, you can safely ignore any…[Read more]
FIESTA SHOULD BE THE CHOICE TO GO FOR. ITS A PROPER DRIVERS CAR.
why not consider Linea & Verna
Linea’s base model does not have the safety kit just like the Vento and the Verna is one of the last cars to even think of when a person is looking for a drivers car.
@Ronny Linea active/Dynamic base versions are not power horses as city or fiesta . so it is not in my checklist
Note that the Linea just looks poor on paper but is another absolute drivers car. The Dynamic variant gets ABS, airbags, substantially more GC, a strong sheet metal engine guard, Microsoft Blue & ME, steering mounted controls, rear AC vents, auto climate control, spacious rear bench, large boot space and would top my list if mid variants are in…[Read more]
regular service should be almost similar but replacement parts and accidental repairs of i20 will be much expensive. Especially i20 has a very light body compared to Punto
if a car has a heavy body work than the parts should be more expensive than the car with lighter body
as far as i know there two types of turbochargers fixed geometric tourbo and variable geomtric tourbo
The basic difference as mentioned above is FGT and VGT. Further there can be twin turbos, twin scroll turbos, variations in the revs and compression values of a turbo, variations in the heat that a turbo can take etc. Regards.
so whats the difference between them
There are part-time 4WD systems, full-time 4WD, all-wheel drive systems and torque on demand. It will take me a while to explain in detail how each of these work, and I think I’ll do that in an article if you find that useful. Meanwhile, here’s a list that has most of them listed out (Rexton needs to be added to that list):…[Read more]
i ve heard someone having a Borg Warner 4WD system in gypsy King
so what’s this Borg Warner & are there any other brands & why are they different from each other
If you are talking about Amaze VX (D) then my answer is No because the VX (D) variant of Amaze comes loaded with two airbags as compare to just one airbag available the i20 Sportz (D). The logic behind my opinion is – why to compromise on safety options for your family members after paying ~8.5L of your hard-earned money. I’d rather prefer to…[Read more]
i am looking fr full feature. not concerned abt air bags coz, mostly ll be driven in city only. no highway at all
i20 Sportz crdi vs amaze s(idtec)
I would go for d i20…amaze is also good but i dint like it much..d interior isnt great but its spacious..n d i20 has better accessories..n looks better than d amaze..
if u r clear about Features than go for I20
@ Karthik…i20 sportz crdi or i20 Asta crdi wins hands down..My pick and choice will be i20, because it is far better than amaze in terms of Space, Interior fit an finish, build quality, gadgets and gizmos to play with, lots of useful features like reverse parking camera, sensors, auto wiper/headlamp and much more in asta than sportz. Also i20…[Read more]
agreed with @Ashu Verma
CVT is a simple technology used in our Activas as Scootys, where engine revs at particular level and gear changes to next level. DSG is double clutch where low clutch helps in better pickup while high clutch helps it to rev to higher RPM. Basically you have higher rev band to play with; without compromising on driving pleasure. Paddle shift is…[Read more]
CVT simply means continuously variable transmission while DSG means direct shift gearbox,CVT gearboxs are not much used now a days because it is not fun to drive plus it has a rubber band effect (when you will drive a vehicle with cvt gear box you will get it) but still it has its own share of fans. Then comes the DSG gearbox they are fun to…[Read more]
is there also other types of gear boxes other than mentioned above
@madhuk – My vote will go for the Ritz ZXi because it has got better engine and it gives far better stats for fuel economy as compare to the Figo Titanium (P). As a trade-off, you might lose ~10% of space in terms of leg room and boot space but you will get better ground clearance, rear power windows, adjustable rear head-rests and 60:40 split…[Read more]
go for Ritz
if you think about family car go for ford figo.
There is no best car, you have to choose which car fulfills your needs the best, that is the best car for you. It is a choice you have to make between what is more important to you. Dave has clearly mentioned the the trade offs between the two. To add there is bluetooth connectivity only in the Figo. It also gets HPS (which is better) against…[Read more]
if u r OK with the Fuel economy of Figo then go for Figo coz Ford has more legroom & space then Ritz Moreover Figo will be cheaper than Ritz Zxi
this 12.8 KMPL Mileage is on 4×4 Variant or 4×2
