In that particular question, the person had asked for choices of petrol vehicles within a budget of 8L. I had chosen Punto 1.4 Emotion and Fiesta Classic Titanium 1.6. The diesel Punto cannot be considered purely being a diesel as the choice was to be made between petrol vehicles. The TJet – Older stock is all sold out and the new does not seem…[Read more]
amit let me rephrase my question, if we keep apart the economical part that is atleast 1200 km of usuage for diesel cars, and no budget constraint. in that case what will you choose for hilly rough roads punto 90 or 1.4 in hatchback segment. and in sedan will the coming linea tjet be your pick. the thing which i am trying to understand is if the…[Read more]
I would definitely go with a diesel engine, especially in rural areas and bad roads. The lower-end torque you get with a diesel is much better to handle slow speed driving over bumpy roads, than a rev-happy petrol. I would go with the Punto 90HP here as it has best of both worlds – good ground clearance and good power characteristics for highway…[Read more]
I would take the diesel for the torque, the VGT and the driveability over petrol. Slow speeds and bad roads, fast speeds and good roads or curved, twisted hilly roads, the ground clearance, the EHPS and the engine guard make a lot of difference. In sedans my vote would go for the TJet, have a ride with a really demanding driver at the wheel and…[Read more]
For rough roads and handling, you have already chosen the best hatch in the Indian market. An upgrade is more than an year away, are you willing to wait over an year to get a newer model? Petrol or diesel is dependent on your expected monthly usage. In my opinion, think of a diesel only if the usage is at least 1500kms a month or more. I have a…[Read more]
amit i was actually waiting for your rply, okay now finally if its punto , then can you plz help me to understand the difference between a punto 90 diesel abd pubto petrol 1.4. will the riding and handling of both these machines will be equal in their different segments because my usuage will be 1000 km per month. and since i will be using the…[Read more]
Amit is Right. Diesel prices are increasing & right now rhere is not big diffrence between running cost.so upto 1000 kms per month is surely for Petrol.
The diesel has turbo lag until about 1500 rpm when the VGT starts to spool. The petrol has a linear power delivery and is a lot more rev happy. The diesel has a much smaller power band as compared to the petrol but in the proper revs it offers more torque. The petrol will be easier to drive in the hills than the diesel which will need to be in the…[Read more]
thanx amit for your reply, i have one more issue for you to resolve. one of my friend, is also a fiat lover, he was actually lookng for a linea t jet and being a businessmen , he travels around 1500 km on monthly basis , so will diesel solve the purpose and if yes will it affect his riding and handling in any way in comparison to petrol linea…[Read more]
If he is looking at a used TJet and a new diesel Linea, then the TJet is better since he will save quite a lot of money in the purchase price. If both are going to be new, the diesel would be better since total cost of ownership favors diesel for 1500 kms usage a month. The Maruti Zen has very good handling characteristics and a Linea will be a…[Read more]
sail uva is cool for you
economical perfect ride for 4 adults comfortably on good roads
rear legroom is nice very fuel effiient…body roll is there but in straight line the car is stable my dad has driven the car on 140-150 on express way on cng with full time ac on..
White is a Royal colour and suits on every car whatever its a premium or low value car. Go for while colour in wagon r bro its look good.
whilte looks perfect for wagon r
and red too will be involved in accidents and get more spot on and caught by traffic police,, so even insurance company has premium charges for red cars ,,, white is a sign of luxury ,,, it hides dust, scratches and keeps ur car looks like new for long ,,, but only thing u must do is wash ur car at regular intervals before they get in off white
white car specially the car like wagon R completely looks like TAXI….No offence..it’s my perception
its for tight budget people only, and mileage is added advantage (its basically a car for first time drivers…. its easy drivable features makes its more popular)…. same is the case with nano, eon tooo ….
Yupp I agree with Nikhil kumar people buy their first car as Maruti Alto 800 due to tight budget, low maintenance, can be serviced any where and good for small family.
reliablity and confidence do matter while purchasing your first car
some driving school teacher recommends to buy a car like 800 or alto for better visibility on bonnet end and compact dimensions it is also one of the reasons for people who buy their first car as alto 800 ,,, there are also some rich buy it as 2nd or 3rd car for their wife or for children who go to school, market and to move around their town ,,,
It is just a case of perception and an example of the herd mentality of budget car buyers. The Nano is cheaper, smaller, has much more space, a better AC, and much lower maintenance costs. And is as good to drive. The Eon looks so much nicer, has more space and the cabin quality is as good as the Swift. Still people queue up to buy Alto800s
U have made the Right choice..
Punto 90HP is purely a driver’s delight car…with the best handling in its segment…
Its powerful..fun to drive and will comfortable for long drives….hilly roads will not be a problem as it has got good soft suspension and one of the best ground clearance of 185mm so even big speed brakers will not be a problem!!!
I’d suggest you go for the Safari as you plan to go off-road extensively
The Scorpio is also a good option for this the Punto won’t really cut it for an enthusiast like you! However if you want to retain the vehicle for 5-8 years then you are stuck with something like the Swift as neither of these cars can be trusted to last and the Fiat has…[Read more]
Well, the Punto is no SUV – it has good ground clearance now, but for real bad conditions like the Lahaul-Spiti circuit an SUV is better, not that the Punto can’t do it, it can. Fiat is revamping right now and should be much better in the coming days as its setting up its own service network finally. The issue with Safari and Scorpio though is…[Read more]
Punto 90hp has a fair bit of turbo lag. It will be tricky to drive in the high mountains. My pick here would be the Safari Storme. It is simply THE most comfortable vehicle you can buy for that much money.
If the Wagon R served you well for 3 years, then 5 years of service should be a cakewalk for the Punto since it is a drastic upgrade over the Wagon R. Having said that, I reckon the Storme is a lot more comfortable and spacious than the Punto. Both vehicles have a VGT but the Storme starts pulling almost as soon as the tachometer needle moves away…[Read more]
Contrary to what anyone says it simply makes no sense to go for Punto now just when Punto Evo is up for release in a few months. The Evo launched in U.K in 2010 whereas India got the 2005 Punto model till date. Evo is miles ahead of the current model with variable steering modes and 7 airbags and better interiors. So you can risk buying a 2006…[Read more]
thanx for your advice simpleton, can you tell if punto abarth and punto evo are different or the same
Abarth is just a sporting kit with certain engine tuning done to the “old” model of Punto in 2 door form. Punto Evo has changed styling – different grill, different centre console and has Fiat’s new “MultiAir” engine which India wont be getting due to costs. Evo is a whole new Punto and now even the Evo-Abarth 2 door has come with the new styling.
The new Evo Punto will also come to India, replacing the current model next year. But its worth waiting to see what Abarth has to offer later this year. The Abarth kit I think can be fitted on an existing Punto 90.
The “old” model of the Punto sits on the same platform as the Evo and the 2012 Punto. Whether the update gets features like steering modes, lots of airbags, the newer engines etc is something that can only be speculated for now. As I previously said, if you have the time and money, you may wait and the Abarths are definitely a league of their own,…[Read more]
None of the car is regarded as best..every car has its pros and cons..
As for the Punto…its a great hatch with best in class driving dynamics and handling with solid build quality…/
if u are ready to wait for the Punto Abarth..then you should wait for it….
It may come with new features,,new cosmetic tweaks on the interiors as well as exteriors….
and if u are getting good discounts on the current model of Fiat Punto 90HP..then grab it now…and u can ask for even additional discounts or free accessories
i am purely looking for a driver car
yes..Punto is a purely driver’s car..Test Drive the Punto 90HP and feel its driving pleasure….
it will give u comfort at all types of rides…in the city..or at highways…and even if u wana race above 150 kmph….dont worry about its handling
Punto90 is no way inferior when it comes to performance.so it is a gud buy and in march you will get many discounts and accessories also if you push it a bit.if you want a bit more and dont mind a turbo PETROL i suggest you wait for the new linea T-jet coming in the end of march or april 1st week and take a spin of it and then decide.the abarth…[Read more]
1. Abarths are in a completely different league, even if they come in the form of Abarth kits on Fiats. 2. Those are expected to be very serious machines and targeted towards the purists amongst enthusiasts. 3. If you have the time and money to wait and spend, Abarths are expected to be way better than TJets. 4. I have a 90HP diesel Punto and have…[Read more]
Rough roads and drivers car – The Punto for multiple reasons such as 1. Better ground clearance (185 mm). 2. Better suspension setup, least body roll and rear suspension doesn’t squat down under load. 3. Electro Hydraulic Power Steering against a plain jane Electric Power Steering 4. Much better engine with a VGT having lesser lag and more linear…[Read more]
@ Amit Great man. This makes everything clear for Rohit to take a clear decision.
While the Punto is more fun to drive than the Swift, do you have a Fiat service station close to you? Make sure you have all the aspects covered.
Fiat Punto is a Driver’s car..it has the best handling in the hatchback segment.. and u will love to drive it..day long too….
It has good ground clearance at 185mm too..
If u are ok with its service network and A.S.S..then u should definitely go with Punto
