Hi All, I m planing for a petrol hatch with a budget of 5 lakhs, but couldn't able to select the make & model.I m totally confused. My first preference is mileage than comes comfort, accessories etc. I can stretch my budget at extreme case for a car which is worth. Will use that car atleast for 5 years. looking for a car which can give atleast 17kmpl in city :).I don't want to go for K10, spark -- more --

5L budget makes it a bit difficult to suggest you a good B-segment petrol car. Plus, getting 17 KMPL of fuel efficiency in city drive makes it even more difficult case. :D I think you might have to stretch your budget if you really want to look beyond K10 mounted cars (Alto, Wagon-R, A-Star, etc). You can go for either a Brio E / EX, i10 1.2…[Read more]

You do not get 17kmpl in city with the petrol cars, you need diesel for that. And you do not get diesels under 5L or thereabouts. All petrol hatchbacks give around 12-13kmpl in city with AC, with only the Brio and the likes of Nano and Alto800 being able to register 14kmpl consistently.

Finally we have taken the delivery of Skoda Rapid Diesel yesterday :) Any precautions that I need to take while driving the initial kilometers, with regard to speed, etc. The manual of Nissan Micra Petrol said not to go in a constant speed till the first servicing. Anything like those for Diesel Rapid as well?

no its not imported ….. well skoda auto is an international brand based at czech republic, but the indian variant of rapid is manufactured and assembled by SKODA INDIA, a subsidiary of skoda at chakan plant, maharashtra, INDIA…. cheers !!!

The 1.6 TDI engine in the Rapid is made by Volkswagen, assembled at Chakan. Most of the components for the engine are imported though, which is why parts are expensive. Chassis, plastics and body panels are made at Chakan in Pune.

How is Skoda Rapid in terms of maintenance? I know its expensive than others, but how expensive? I have already booked rapid diesel. I really liked the performance, handling and european finesse, but just a bit worried about the maintenance costs. Is it that bad?

well its not that big fig., a rough calculation would place you between 40 to 45 k for total service in a rough 6yrs period. its quiet low compared to vento, sunny , city … chill buddy, its a cool choice !!! cheers…

Too expensive. I has offered underbody coating by my Honda dealer for my Jazz at 3000 for the same. Market prices are even lower. Get in touch with a good car accessory shop. You will get a better deal. Underbody anti-rust coating does not affect warranty.

Don’t go for teflon coating its useless just get antirust undercoating done that will cost you ard 2200 from company only. Get it done from company showroom only.

Your dealer is charging too much. If they reduce the price by 500-700 bucks atleast, fine. Otherwise, get it done from the market.

One of the reasons this coating is offered to customers is to fleece them(Teflon under body coating?!). Unless you are in a place where the car is exposed to a lot of sea water , no modern car requires any coating. They come with adequate protection from the elements.

mr. tilak i stay where the docks (sea) are but it far from my house also the company told to do undercoating cause i stay near the sea but as i told them it not near. they say air, water will washing the car, etc etc it keeps on moving so u need to do that coating. i guess they to fleece me. i told them i will do it before rain.

Underbody coating is generally a good idea. It ensures the chassis remains rust free and also helps cutting out road noise. Teflon coating is more of a poser’s thing with little functional value, though I admit I have got it done on my Jazz.

You actually get the underbody coating from 3M for a cheaper price. Since you stay near the coastal area, I suggest you to get it done as soon as possible as coastal area are more prone to metal corrosion.

Like I said, 500-700 minimum. But I do not think they will entertain. 3M is a good brand and is freely available in the market.

I would say the Maruti Ertiga :-) . Vento definitely is overpriced, Duster would be more likely to be the right one in the 3 that you have stated.

Vento is a sedan , Innova is an MUV and Duster is SUV. Three cars are from different category and each of them is VFM in its own category. I completely agree with Sandeep..Ertiga is most VFM compared to others.

Innova is somehow most value for money as you get more space and more comfort at the same price and even low maintenance. Innova is proven and great to drive anywhere. After that Duster make more sense and Vento is the last.

Since you are already a Ford customer and love how the Figo is doing, wait a bit – the EcoSport should be on your shopping list. It will be easier dealing with the service center for service for both cars of the same brand.

Wait for Eco Sport and then you can decide.
