Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV with Facelift & Automatic Gearbox – Images & Details

Tomorrow, Mitsubishi will update its solitary automobile for the Indian car market, the Pajero Sport SUV. The Pajero Sport will receive a mild makeover and a 5 speed automatic transmission. Also, the four wheel drive system will be replaced by a lighter and more fuel efficient rear wheel drive mechanism. Doing away with the four wheel drive layout will also allow Mitsubishi to price the Pajero Sport Automatic competitively. The Pajero Sport’s 5 speed automatic gearbox will also see the usage of steering mounted paddle shifters for manual gear shifting. Prices of the Pajero Sport SUV’s Automatic variant will be revealed tomorrow.

The Pajero Sport will retain its 2.5 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine that outputs 177 Bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. Based on the Triton pick up truck platform, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV uses a ladder frame chassis and seats seven adults in a 2+3+2 layout. Like its manual gearbox equipped 4X4 sibling, the Pajero Sport AT will be assembled at Hindustan Motors’ Tiruvallur factory of Chennai. The CKD kits for the assembly set up will arrive from Thailand, which is a major production base for the Pajero Sport. The Pajero Sport’s Triton pick up truck derivative is a hot seller in South East Asian markets.

Coming to the visual and feature changes on the Pajero Sport SUV, the front end gets a new grille that makes the SUV look fresher. The fog lamp surrounds have also been revised. While the grille is one change that buyers will immediately notice, not so much the fog lamp surrounds, which looks as inconspicuous as it can get. While Mitsubishi has been offering the MT 4X4 variant of the Pajero Sport with a twin tone paint job over the past few months, the automaker will persist with a  single tone paint job for the AT 4X2 variant. In the future though, the AT 4X2 variant is also likely to gain a twin tone paint job, one that has proven to be extremely popular among buyers of both the erstwhile Pajero SFX and the current Pajero Sport SUVs.
