The Nissan NV 200 is expected to come to India next year and Nissan’s partner, Ashok Leyland will manufacture the NV 200 in India. It will likely be powered by a re-tuned version of the Nissan Micra’s 1,500 cc diesel engine.

We expect the re-tuned version of the engine to produce about 85 bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of maximum torque and to come with a 5-speed gearbox.

The NV200 has a traditional minivan design with subtle dashes of new age elegance. The front fender (bumper) is huge and adds a little muscle to the otherwise mundane design. From the Minivan point of view however the NV200 has a fresh design and beats the vans we in India are used to with ease.

The NV200 has a large windshield which provides maximum visibility to the driver. The headlamps are simple yet elegant looking and compliment the slightly raised hood of the car. The driver sits at a comfortable height, providing a commanding view of the road ahead.

The van has a conventional minivan styled design with sliding doors. The side profile reveals strong character lines which give the NV200 a personality of its own. The car is high and it will be easy getting in and out of the vehicle for even those who are exceptionally tall.

The interiors of the NV200 have been designed in typical Nissan fashion but are still fresh and ergonomically put together. The dash is wide and the layout ensures everything falls to hand easily. The gear lever has been placed practically and allows for more legroom for the front passenger. The steering wheel is wide and will keep the drivers hand reasonably comfortable. The grey tone though may not be appreciated by most people.

The rear of the NV200 is not particularly attractive to look at but suits its workhorse image. The storage space is large and will fit it quite a lot of baggage. The huge boot space means the van will likely be a hit with commercial vehicle owners and courier companies.
