The ZDi is definitely better - it has safety features such as 2 airbags, and a better music system. It also has rear defogger and wiper and alloys. But if that's not so important to you, you can pick up the VDi, as it has ABS in it. The rest you can customize as you like.
If the budget permits, its always advisable to go for the ZDi variant just for the 2 airbags, every other additional feature be damned.
always go for the one with airbags and ideally ABS too if you can afford it. So ZDi in this case!
