Hi Experts and Shreyans,
I am planing to buy the Ford Fiesta AT this month but I am concerned about its GC; last month when I asked Shreyans, I was told that the Fiesta has the best suspension in its segment. Two days back I read here that a Fiesta owner said that his car’s underbody broke due to low GC of 156mm. Even though I am the only one who drives the car the most, but once a year if I take the car on a long trip in the hills with rough roads, with a family of 4 members; will the underbody get hit? Or should I select the VW Vento AT or Skoda Rapid AT because of 168mm of GC?Please advice me on which car to select with the best GC and one that is good looking too. My choices are the Ford Fiesta, Skoda Rapid and VW Vento. Or should I wait for another 2 months for new launches; will Ford Ecosport comes in AT?

I think the person who posted yesterday, was talking of the Ford Fiesta Classic, not the new Fiesta. But yes, ground clearance is not great in either. If you are looking at a vehicle for rough roads - you need a vehicle like the Duster. But none of the SUVs in that price bracket except the Scorpio have an auto transmission (and Scorpio is coming with a new auto transmission soon, as the older one was discontinued).
The annual trip to the mountains should not be the main decision making criteria for a car which you will be driving on a daily basis. If I were you, I would have bought the overall best automatic car that the budget allows. Which among those 3 happens to be the Fiesta. Still, if you are so very particular about ground clearence, you should consider the SX4 AT. Its a 4 speed automatic and the car is not as accomplished as the other options. But you get SUV rivalling GC and at a lower price.
