Hi,
I want to buy a car in the range of about Rs.15 to 20 lakh. I am interested in Mahindra XUV500 and Volkswagen Jetta. I am confused and am not able to decide which vehicle I should take. I need good driving pleasure, good mileage, less maintenance and good features inside the car. I use it mostly for myself and only 2 people travel in the car. Kindly suggest me a good car. I am happy to go with any car manufacturer, I also like Skoda Laura and Chevrolet Cruze. I have also heard and seen reviews of the XUV where there are many problems in it. Is it a good decision to book one? Please suggest something soon.

if only 2 people are travelling most of the time in the car,,then y not go for Chevy Cruze..Its muscular and powerful and u will really feel good while driving it....bt u may get less mileage in it..features are also good in cruze.. but if u want more features,,then go for XUV 500..it has great features and mileage is also good!!!
Your choices are very different from each other! Mahindra's service quality in my opinion is nowhere near what you can expect with the Jetta. XUV500 is very value for money etc, but it is still not on the same level as a Jetta. I would say, for lots of features etc, go for XUV500 - but for peace of mind, choose Jetta. As Shenoy says, Cruze is also an option.
First of all Buddy u r compairing cars frm different segments, as said by shenoy go fr chevy cruze, bt if you wnt more feature or if u like to go offroad driving thn XUV 500 is a gr8 deal (value fr Money).
If you are going to drive yourself, usually maximum 2 people and any manufacturer is fine then in that budget a very involving and wonderfully feature loaded car is the Laura vRS. The driving pleasure is unmatched while mileage will be on the lower side. The thing with the Jetta is that all VW's look pretty similar from the front. The Polo, Vento, Jetta and Passat all feel like they have an identity crisis. The Cruze is definitely a very quick car but can never match the involving feeling of the vRS nor can it handle anywhere close. The XUV should be a pick if VFM is what you are looking at since it may end up having something or the other going wrong on and off. Note that I know someone who's Scorpio gets great attention and the dealer tries to fix his problems with special efforts without any special connections. Mahindra definitely seems to be taking efforts but that may be a dealer specific thing too and hence can't be generalized. The Laura vRS should be a good fit except that it isn't a star performance for fuel efficiency. Regards.
i have been looking in websites where lot of customers are complaining about the clutch , break and informational display problems.. is this the right time to buy Xuv 500. And what would be the city drive mileage of Xuv. I know that i am comparing the different segments of cars but i am very much confused with the Curze, Jetta and Skoda.. I need good mileage, Drive and features.. I cannot afford much for maintainance as well.. So kindly pick one from the lot and suggest me a good car. I am fine with other options as well in the price range of 15 to 20 Lakhs.. Out of the 3 Cruze, Jetta and Skoda.. which car fits in my requirements... Kindly suggest..
Cruze will be the best fit amongst the three in my opinion. Regards.

Thanks for the answers posted earlier..
Most of the problems in XUV are sorted out....i think you may get around 12 kmpl in city and 15 on highways in the XUV.... if u still fell that XUV has some problems in it..then go for Chevy Cruze...another option is Neo Fluidic Elantra...it has gr8 features and is value for money sedan!!!
Elantra has got only 1.5lt Desiel engine.. and looks more like verna.. I am really confused between the trio Curze, Jetta and Skoda.. Cruze doesnt have good resale value.. Skoda and Jetta maintenance costs are more.. Also skoda mileage is less compared to the other two... Features in skoda seems to be less compared to the other two...Jetta doesnt look like a costly car and it just looks like polo and vento...I am totally confused.. please pick one out of the three..i will go with your expert solution and i will buy what ever you suggest...
Go For Chevy Cruze....thats it
if i would have been in your place would have gone for laura or jetta but would have selected jetta over laura because a new laura is on its way already n will hit indian shores by mid of 2013 .i would suggest you wait for new laura .but if you can't wait and if petrol is an option go for laura vRS anyday .it's the best performance car in 20lakh bracket.if you want diesel go for jetta as it's new and more spacious over laura .i would not suggest you cruze because cruze ig good vfm and is feature full car but when it comes down to driving pleasure and built quality it is second to both laura and jetta.being a driving entusiast i weigh performance and dynamics more than features and vfm.hope it helps.
